Now see! This is how all those nasty rumours get started. I was being sincere! Why, I wouldn't dream of trying to recruit them for... oh... at least a month or so.

In all seriousness, The Guardians want to promote success with the entire metaverse, not just our own empire. And for some reason or another, I just like you guys.

Thanks GH

The website has been updated with the new Diplomats laws, the new awards and points etc.

To go with the new laws, I am looking to promote one member of the senate to the position of Charge d'Affair. This member will be responsible for ensuring the empires laws are adhered to, and to keep track on the activity status of the empires members. This position is open to all members of the senate, and the position will be held for a three month period. If you would like to run for this position please state your wish in the Debating Chambers.

Thanks

DW

Good day all diplomats, have been on a break enforced by BTbroadband, just caught up with your thread and it is a shame to see Marquesa go

Glad to see the empire is going from strength to strength

Hi Exar

Good to see you back again. Using ISDN via Tiscali myself. Tied in until august but then going broadband. btw tiscali isdn runs like the hare and the tortoise. Sometimes its as fast as BB other times as slow as dial-up. Oh and then theres the periods it wont even connect at all >

I'm on cable. Besides periodic updates of the system, it is quite good, even with the 1/10 restriction on a wireless connection to a network modem.

#2888  by Citizen Exar Kuun - 5/9/2004 4:24:58 PM

Never had any probs with my broadband whatsoever, BT have been great. The reason they cut me off was that I forgot to pay the bill....

....for six months

Then it took me a couple of days to realise what had happened - I thought it was my PC playing up - not the brightest cookie in the world sometimes

PS Hi Tommy - sorry haven't been in touch for a while

Hey Exar. Was wondering what happened to you. And I just realized that MM77 is missing. Time to crash the temple?

69k. There is an option to upgrade to 128k for an extra £5 per month. going to look into that option. Basically i pay £15p/m at moment for (they state) 3x speed. Or you can upgrade to £20p/m for 10x speed. Seen as the 3x is so slow and with the baby on the way i cant really afford 30$ per month for full BB at the moment, the £ 20 10x looks the best option. But got to find out more about it first. Look before you leap scenario!

oh and as for the good/bad stories.. When the system works (probably amount of users related) it is really good. So good that, at times, it is nearly BB speed. However, when it slows it is only just better than dial-up, or slower!. Plus there are times when it doesnt work at all. For some reason restarting my pc can help sometims too.

But if you were looking for a cheaper than BB connection, i would still say go get isdn, just be prepared to be frustrated at the wrong time

what kind of installation costs did you look at (whether or not you installed it yourself, like how much was the hardware and software you had to buy?)

Yeah, I use ASDL - cheaper than cable and still pretty fast. 15 pounds seems like a lot to pay for internet - I only pay AUS$30 a month with 8 gigs of downloads, 128kbps.

By the way - thanks for the welcomes. I don't know how often I'll post but I'll probably be around occasionally.
