it's quite possible they picked those two not for there actually innocence/guild but because both are famous respected members of the community

I really hope this is not true! That would be more disturbing than actual cheating!

indeed it would, and if that is what's being done i don't disagree it shouldn't be done, i do however disagree at the timing of it, if a tactic like that is to be used, it should only be in a time when they are constantly catching cheaters, so that they need to get the message across, as far as i know, this is NOT a good time.

Some people are messing with games they've submitted already and resubmitting them as new games.

Anyone who's submitting multiple large games per day is going to be scrutinized.

Therefore we must accept that this was not poor timing, more to do with the changes with submissions due to AP. The submissions for 1.50 are looked at in more depth than previously. This new way of reading the data would have highlighted any inconsistencies in anyones games. If this happened Brad and Stardock would have acted on the information.

Very good messages DW here and in other threads. Be calm. Wait. Do not jump to conclusions without all the facts.

Isn't Loth still using 1.13 though?

Isn't Loth still using 1.13 though?

Yes, but i believe the past games were automatically looked at as part of this new submission system.

I would also like to say that all players should look at the way they play. If you constantly use the exact same method of winning and can finish games very fast, you should vary the tech tree researched and the order in which you research them. If you research the same every time this could go somewhat to creating the 'red flag' that will make stardock scrutinise your games.

indeed! can i make a speech?!

#3633  by Citizen Kazzryl - 6/18/2004 6:01:23 PM

I'm assuming as long as one starts off with a new map each time that should be sufficient, no?

I tend to stay close to my tech tree research though. DW has suggested that may be a problem.

SPOILER: In brief: I research green techs and then trade them to AI's for the other necessary techs. And then I research (or get them in trade) the diplmoacy increasing techs, till I have the three majesties. And then I simply bribe the AI's to close. Make sure I have a couple of trade goods, and then ally, then I have 60k.

I stay close to this formula every time. Is this going to be a problem?

#3636  by Veteran the 3rd child - 6/18/2004 6:10:49 PM

i don't think you have to worry kazz, i think the redflag that goes up means that they WILL check it so if your innocent then there won't, shouldn't be a problem.

Yep, as the rest of the game would also be random. What happened in the current case was that the submitted games had the exact same structure as each other. That is impossible with the game as all maps are different and different things happen at different times throughout the game. Would not hurt to vary your tech tree though. Worst case scenario, you play a different game with different tech resutls

Hiya, Dan. Doing well! Well sorta, kinda shocked by all this. Doesn't seem in either of their characters.

I think DW is right, lets wait and see, not react hastily.

Weee, the project! Oh good. Can't wait!
I think we'll need some good fun and special announcements soon after this surprise.

All members are encouraged to come up with various things that can be done to promote the project, further the Diplomats cause and have fun doing it.

I was thinking of some sort of mini-battles between the honorary members and ourselves. Maybe we could team-up with the Guardians and have one-on-one battles (play a game each or so) and keep a running score etc. Only needs to be for a couple of weeks or so
