Ooh. Nice catch! Didn't even see that one.

I just happend to be there.

You too, huh? Mine had a whopping 16K in it. Just about hated the cassette recorder. |
|
I could never get my cassette recorder to work. Mine had 48K and a floppy drive. ooooohhhh...
| |
|
I've never even seen the cassette unit.

The Apple II was a lovely machine though. I learned how to program on that computer. And how to reverse-engi... I mean, I learned how to program.

My first program (besides "Hello World") was a little block that moved horizontally across the screen.
After that, I had a blast modifying every program I could get my hands on. Remember Apple Trek? I almost rewote the entire thing.

Oh, I sense a C programmer entering the room.

I remember Apple Trek! Do you remember the original Wizardry, Ultima I or Flight Simulator? They all came out on the Apple II first! I learned assembly language on that machine, poking, peeking from BASIC.

|
yea i got a good video card...kinda need it for the other games i play.
its a:
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128 MB AGP 8X/4X BUS
paid about $200 for it, but it'll be good for another year or so

Me too!
My first pure ASM was freaking huge (compared to BASIC) and all it did was say "Hello World."!
I tried to follow some of my old code a couple years ago and I could not even follow it through the first 5 lines in 10 minutes. Talk about a GOTO mess.
Happily, I'm much more structured now.

Yeah. If you need any help with Bill's code, let me know. Although I think he wrote that in VB.

Cool discussion here guys. The first computer I think we ever had was an old Apple. I don't know which version, but I remember one of those old big floppy drives in it, but it must have been newer than some because I think it was imbedded in the CPU. One of those old printers, the ones that took a minute to print one page and then you tore the things off the side. Really, really old crap. The only games I remember were Klondike Solitare and PGA Golf. Really crappy stuff, but state of the art at the time.

Oh, on 1700. [waves hand]BAH![/waves hand]
| |
|
I remember a computer-salesman telling my dad:
"20kB HD! You will never ever need that much!"
[irritated looking at my 80GB laptop]
