Need a little help from the Britons out there. Trying to order books directly from Amazon UK (Ian M. Banks) and was wondering what was the conversion appx for 6.39 pounds?

Sorry to be off topic, but where else but here can I find helpful Brits.

btw, Kazzryl if your really looking for some strong influence here's what i used to do i would rush to the hyper distribution center and get it way before the computer it's like this:

If you already have cultural Maximizing do this
Zero Grav Research & Nano Frequency Electronics> Brain Wave Mapping> Terra Computers>Hyper Computers>Omni Computers>Interspecies Philosophy>Cultural Conquest

then you can build the hyper distribution center like +33% overall influence and +50% to the planet it's built on so put her on sol and you'll get a big boost

Most are out of print here in the states.

But I may buy used copies, checking into that.

Have you checked via half.com? It is part of ebay, but no bidding. Lots of books for seventy five cents and up. I use them all the time.

Thanks for your help guys. Used copies (in only acceptable condition) of Mr. Banks older books start at 13.00 dollars! There wasn't too much on Half.com nor Ebay. But I managed to get a few of his others for around 4-5 dollars on Amazon.

Now returning to a more appropiate topic. Darn those Torians! They have the best planets, and they know it. Top in military, so they keep threatning me. I can't seem to bribe enough, and if I keep sending them money, they will never flip. Grrr.

BTW, if anyone owns Consider Phlebas and/or The Player of Games, and wishes to sell them for under 10 bucks each, send me an email.

Yep, I rarely build military anymore, but when I do, it is to kill the Torians, or the Drath. Both of them severely p*** me off. Usually one of the AIs is nice and kills them for me though.

Acutally if i had to kill one i would hate on the altarians, those wannabees always seem to be the dominating Ai in my games and even though they are no real threat i just gets me mad cause of when i think back to my earlier days and i remember the tributes the war declarations ohhhh they make me want to pay them back now that i can

Same here. The key seems to be getting up and getting established financially. I don't begin building constuctors until further in the game. Once I am making plenty of money, and constructors are going faster than my tech can keep up with, then I start building battleships and AMM to get a decent score for military in the end game. But rarely, if ever, do I actually use them.

#2073  by Citizen Kazzryl - 4/12/2004 5:44:43 PM

On that note, is there a list in the Sentae Halls of what techs offer influence improvements?

#2074  by Veteran Gerakken - 4/12/2004 6:02:40 PM

I have not forgotten that the Diplomats are due a Major Empires report. My schedule is going to be tight this week and my muse has not yet offered me anything I think is worthy enough for such a post. I am sorry for the delay, but something worthwhile should appear in the next few days.

Don't mind me. Gerakken is just reminding and motivating himself. I can be forgetful at times.
