Why would you be screwed? You need just to show diplomatic ability to convince them to vote for you

Probably not since I already know that I will be offline for a month in august. Not very great for a senator

who knows with elections? And the number of available seats will depends on the number of diplomats in the empire. I guess that senators will try to be relected in order to be nearer from the lifetime senator requirements (3 consecutive terms)
