I believe it had something to do with the fact that the State of California, in all it's environmental legislative glory, forgot to consider that you need to build more power plants if use of electricity is going to increase.

Just got back from breakfast.

Australia gets ALL of it's rain during the winter months. About a metre,3.5 feet here in WA.
Quite cold, about 15C during the day and about 4C at night.
Some sun every day, but not much.

Nice to see you about, my lady! Why don't you run for Senator. Give it some thought. You have my vote.

We get power outs here in Kansas during ice storms, too much ice on the lines and then they fall. Pretty dangerous. I once had a small tree fall on my car.

You mean the "Governernator?"

I had a heck of an storm about 8-9 years back when I lived in Ohio, a bunch of snow, but more importantly the temps dropped to -30F at night, almost got to 0 during the day. We had to use a hair dryer to get out of our house, took till 11AM. Lasted for about a week.

Also, they tell me horror stories about a storm, the same one I think as what I got in Ohio, which knocked out power for days here, because they got a few inches of ice.

Morning, all.

After growing up in Florida, I didn't know too much about winter weather. My first experience was when I moved to NYC. I had a van (parking it in NYC cost about what I paid for rent for my apt every month!). Anyway, after the first ice storm, I couldn't get the ice off the windshield. So I ran upstairs and filled a big bucket full of boiling hot water. I threw the hot water on the windshield, and it cracked to every corner! Needless to say, I sold the van following week, and learn to take the subway.
