Don't be a stranger Tech, even if you don't submit games anymore stay around the forums.

Errr, yeah Tech - I wrote much of it.
'Tis not good, I would have thought Stardock would want to keep the veteran players interested pending the release of AP, and dropping any games over 331 days old doesn't help.
I am now 100% sure that my observations and calculations in post #6 of that thread are correct.

Sorry CSF I am really not having fun anymore and I may decide to move on. |

Tech, I know what you are talking about I felt that way myself and thought about why I felt that way.
I think that there are a couple of reasons why I felt like you do.
I was caught up in the metaverse race to be #1 or close to it personally and via the team. To do this was to learn to crank out games fast with the highest score possible. I achieved this by mastering the tiny maps and a level of play that I was capable of. I subscribed to a game formula that almost always guaranteed a win. Why play a game when the outcome is assured?
I think most MASO players are doing this judging by the fact that most submit alliance wins because they can get 60K. The only challenge here is getting a good start then apply the formula and voilą ... 60K points.
The metaverse and game combination in my opinion is a failure because of the scoring system. In order to win you must submit games fast and with 60Kpoints.
I have been trying new strategies on my tiny map. Most of my scores are in the 11000 to 13500 range. I now switch strategies when I get bored.
Tech, perhaps you should try a tiny / abundant / tight game and beat that around for awhile. Forget MASO.
I challenge people to be totally aggressive and attack any ship you come across. I bet in order to win this type of game you have to go right down to normal because the AI will crush you.
Change the strategy and you change the game. Stop playing the METAVERSE game. Maybe even stop submitting games.
The thing I like about the metaverse is really only the forums. There is a great group of people here that are funny and interesting.
Stardock is doing a great job on their game and support. The only other game companies that do a similar job are iD software and the makers of Unreal.
If you do retire from the game please don't retire from the forums.

back off on submitting 1-3 masos a night |

I play once a week, and it's enough for me. It keeps the game fun, and I try to have to most haphazards strategy every game. My buld queue is always different, and I try to play with fewer planets. Makes it a little more diffiult and keeps me entertained.

One of the most enjoyable games I had was on Tough when the Yor attacked me before I was ready for TS strikes. It was on a medium abundant, and we each had about 15 systems, with only one other major left in the game. I got into an all out war that I fought conventionally. I was starting with a better economy, but no ships. I was only slowly was able to turn the tide. Exausting, but fun.
It does become a different game when you start seriously playing for meta position.

Finally how many of us have seriously played AP for the scenarios? Or created a map or... well you get the picture. |
|
All true. Got the AP because could not compete with those that had it. They were getting bigger scores. I never even looked at the scenarios, an still have not.

Cause I know I am the best GalCiv player alive (at least in my own UnDead head) |
|
It's at times like this I wish there was a multi-player option in GalCiv.
