And now that I'm at work, I walking in to find that the fecal matter has hit the rotating air movement device.

Can I use that?

Reminds me of my backyard. I have a big dog and a little daughter. I tell her to watch out for the brown fecal snakes in the grass.

Just to let you know... adults also have problems with the same snakes. So... I don't think age is a significant factor.

Hockey Post.

Flames have to bounce back tonight or they look to be in trouble. They have managed to bounce back all through these playoffs so they have to reach into that well one more time.

Game 10:00 EDT.

And if I didn't have to be up at 3:30 AM EDT, I'd be watching it.

Finally! I tried posting yesterday while in the Maple Leaf Lounge in Toronto (sounds like an ideal place to post from!) but it didn't work. I suspect their cookies/java/javascript were disabled or something on the computers.

Anyway, I tried posting here at my in-laws in Halifax and it failed too. Then I changed the security settings to default and it works now.

I'm not back in Ottawa yet, but the West Coast of my vacation is over. I'm now in Halifax until Sunday when I drive back to Ottawa.

Re: Technician

"Whatever..." Yeah, who are we kidding. For the first time in the history of our Empire, we had a champion and were finally heading the right direction. The loss of Technician for us is huge. We now drop back to a minor empire again. For the 2nd time in our history, our highest ranking player has quit. Not only our highest ranking player, but one of our top 2 posters as well! damoose is the other one, I'm just a fringe guy! It's a sad day for the Empire indeed. As usual, he's always welcome back, and in fact, we'd love him to return any time. I would especially appreciate it if he decides to "retire" to do it for his brothers in the homeland. Retire in Canada!

Speaking of retiring. Just a couple weeks ago it sounded like Technician had had enough. I'm not surprised at all. Look at how many games you have played, and how many I have played... Look at how you now play your games? Are you really playing for fun anymore? You admittedly play quite cheesy to get the highest point values, and you do it often. I'm surprised you have played as long as you have doing that. I'd be bored out of my mind in a couple of weeks at most. You have to play for fun.

I now think the Metaverse is a detriment to the game. All it's doing is having the regular players focus on how to "cheat" to get more points than they deserve to rise through the Metaverse. It's not about how to play the game for fun. You don't measure your enjoyment levels by the number of points you receive.

I too have fallen victim to this. I really shouldn't be playing Masochistic. At this level I don't play the game like I would like to.

Maybe it's time for me to "retire" from Metaverse games, and just start playing more for fun.

Paguma,

As you said it was down to me and damoose posting on the thread and keeping it active. With you and Newfy and a few lurkers occasionally dropping by.

Also yes I was not happy as I stated a few times.

Both are reasons I used in deciding to jump and I did alot of soul searching before I decided to go. I was with the CSF from almost the start and when the CSF hit number 1.

As far as heading in the right direction I think we were just holding steady.

If I would of stayed I would be losing interest and dropping out of the Top 10 quicker tham an Ontario Liberial can break a promise.

Now with the diplomats I have an active team. In fact it is a rule stay active or get removed. You think the CSF dropped when I took my points imagine if the CSF dropped inactive players. I agree with this policy keeping 125 players when only 10 - 20 are active is point chasing and hiding stagnation.

The Diplomat web site and forum are both fun and worth jumpimg by itself and I could not do anything close to the excellent work the diplomats have done.

http://diplomats.galciv.org/forum/index.php Link

We have 78 members from many Empires and I was a member before I decided to jump ship. I think the diplomats show signs of growth and I would think it great if my old CSF pals would join up. It would be like old times but we be in a much more active team.

I may tire of playing Maso Tag with Alex but as with the CSF there really is no pressure for me to keep up the pace. The Diplomats have the same rule the CSF have is have fun.

Now as far as coming back I may come back someday as you said to retire. As you said my idea of retirement would to relax play an normal game maybe once week and chat on the threads, but nothing would stop me from doing that as a Diplomat either.

Really Paguma you just came back from vacation hope you enjoyed Alaska.

You know you are enjoying it really.... As an aside, I don't recall a medal changing hands as many times in a month as the bronze has recently....

I second the comments about the Diplo halls.... (I should do, I suppose, as the host!)

Tag....

Alex

I think the inactive player thing is very confusing to new players. When I was looking at joining an empire I though the CSF was this massive active empire and the Guardians was the new small group with little chance of ever being number 1. I think the meta should make it clearer as to the number of active members. Course now we has statbot for that but I doubt a newbie could find it and figure it out. If the facts had been clearer my choice may have been different, although I am completely happy with the way it worked out.

No, I don't play Galactic Civilizations for the forums. In fact, I only read this forum, as should have been obvious by my ignorance of some of the discussions in other forums. I don't have much in common with most players of Galactic Civilizations.

The hard core players seem to think this is the greatest computer game ever invented and the only one worth playing. I think it is a great game, but have, do and will always play many other games. Also there are things about this game I find quite dissappointing. That being said, it's still the best in it's genre.

I don't pick my Empire based on whether it is active or not. I don't care whether I participate in an active forum or not. Besides, you don't have to belong to an Empire to participate in a forum.

I am Canadian, and that's all I care about. I see no reason to leave, even if we were last place. Some day, we may be.

Since when did Canadians care about being #1. That only matters in hockey.
