I have been having no luck with v1.5. All games are crashing to the desktop now. Starts after about 20 turns then happens every turn.

I have to reinstall v1.20 to keep playing. Stardock has not even acknowledged the problem.

I have come up with a new move, that I like to call the "Caribou"

Okay hands to head, wriggle fingers frantically, look idiotic and shout " 'MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE"

Ouch... That's not good.

And also unusual for SD as well.

I don't think I've downloaded v1.5 yet. I'm kind of scared to do it now.

I've only played a bit of 1.5, but I had no problems. Newfy, have you tried deleting the new version, and reloading from an earlier 1.49 version?

I never had v1.49 because I didn't get Dregin.net. I waited until v1.5 was available.

Newf... So you're running 1.2 now. From a clean install? Or did you just revert to 1.2?

I have not had the time to reinstall the game. I am sure that I will reinstall this weekend.

It is just that I am a bit annoyed with Stardock support at the moment. I have emailed CariElf my problem and I have posted the problem in the v1.50 bug thread. Carielf has not responded to me but has responded to someone else in that thread.

Currently the game is totaly unplayable. Someone suggested that the save games are getting corrupted. Well right now what is happening is I load the game press the turn button and crash. There might be something to that statement.

Another thing is, sometimes it takes me a few days to play a game so I am reloading a few times. I also reload if I do something stupid or I get an EVENT that I do not like.

Hummm... They are usually really good at getting back.

On the reload... just remember that the AI goes through a round of trading and looks to rush buy wonders and trade goods on reloads. Big pain in the butt in succession games.

saturday, at work, want to play galciv. Its been days. I was poking around on the computer last night and found 3 versions of galciv installed. I could not get v1.20 to run only AP and it crashes.

I think that I will unistall or remove all versions of Galciv including Stardock central and reinstall GC1.20 and then AP.

I read that you should be able to play v1.20 seperately from AP.

#3466  by Citizen damoose - 6/26/2004 7:32:01 AM

Yes you can. I have both versions installed and I have played them separately. SOunds like a good hard drive cleaning is in order for you.

Wipe out 3 copies of Galciv, remove AP. Reinstalled V1.20 and v1.50. Things so far are working.

Excellent. Some times thigs really get messed up when you got multiple installs going.

Playing another game and some how let the AI get way ahead of me in tech. The Torians own the whole map culturally except my sectors and one of their sectors.
Its been awhile since I really had to fight to stay in a game. This war will be a cultural flip fest.

I submitted a game on the weekend and got at least 30K points from it. Wow.

Yea, it seems, but I'm not positive that 1.50 is giving more meta points. Could be my imagination. Peace could probably shed some light. I'll have to ask him sometime to check it out.

Not sure that I could do a such thing. I haven't the time to go through all persons to see who play maso tiny map to spot if on average, there is an improvement for score.
