Hmmm.... Let's see. The game is more challenging with 1.51And isn't that the point

Play the game with mods off would be more chellenging or at least longer. I was only using bribes up to 99 turns so dropping it to 50 I don't think would hurt me that much.

What Paquma was saying about culture though does not make it more chellenging. It gets rid of that strategy all together for the human player. Much easier to turn a system to space dust then wait for them to see the wisdom of your leadership. Where this change would hurt is where your sharing a sector with a major AI it is a no win situation for you culturally.

Yeah, but I think that change was also in 1.49 was it not? It wasn't in just the newest release anyway.

Actually, this now makes it a non-starting position for the human player. You will not win a sector control clash with the AI.

Do you mean you will lose it, or can you hold on to it. Last night I shared a sector and got the skull and warning but did not loose it. I am using 1.49. With all galactic wonders I got I eventually had a huge influence advantage and we shared the sector the whole game.

I have never been able to keep it in 1.51. Even with most of the wonders, etc. But, I also don't build star bases, so it is just bare planet and civ influence.

I colonize PQ12-14 in AI sectors to flip them in the game. I do pick a +10 Influence in the beginning, and get ALL the influence resources via th AI. I generally get Restaurant of Eternity, Propaganda Machine, Pain Amplifiers, and Galactic Guide Book. Sometimes, I get the Galactic Exibition or Monument. That really helps.

If I play that long, I get those as well. Usually stop around Pain Amplifiers or Propaganda Machine.

I rush to get Propaganda. I have been getting Interstellar Capitalism before the AI lately, and it is worth A LOT to them. I get good tech for it.

Yes you can. You just need to be a lot more carefull about how you go about it. As LW and ED stated have wonders and such are a big, big help and if you start taking over other AIs your pop goes up which also has a effect on your influence. Kinda like wonders and tgs actually, so there's one reason for not blowing the AIs in to space dust even if it is a lot of fun.

But you can flip the AI with party palaces. You just need to do it slow and easy. You need to keep the influence difference between you and the AI in the sector at 200 or less in you favour. Anything more than that and they'll demand the SB and then you are truly screwed.

Woohoo, I got Stardock Central to work on my laptop...

I'm travelling next week, so this time my games submitted from the road won't be for 1.2, which means more points!

Oh no!!! The "undead" are on the march again!!

Time to ply them with liquor again. Once they start consuming mass quantities, they'll forget to move forward!!

You know Moser... We really like our liquor consummed by the snacks first. Gives them a little extra.

LUNCH!

Hey Moser, try the Guardian Moose repellant. Just be sure to read the label about side affects.

grumble grumble...

I finally get in the mood to play AP, and the damn thing keeps crashing on me. I struggled all morning with a map that I just couldn't get to work, so I started a clean one tonight. Sure enough I'm off to a great start, but the game keeps crashing. I've not got it so it crashes 2 turns after my save game.

I sent in the log from SmartException and the save game, but needless to say this sucks the life out of my today. I really wanted to play, but now I'm just so frustrated. I don't want to start another new game now...
