Check out the link in post #218 on page 9

Which is a link to another thread... Anyway, found it.

Although the spreadsheet screwed up for me.

Have you checked out the MWC Statbot?

That's cool! Maybe we should link the CSF stats from our web site.

I reverse engineered the worksheet so I could fix the problems I was having.

Unfortunately, I realize now that I'm going to have a hard time hanging on to my score. My score rose quickly in January because I posted a lot. Unfortunately, since I've slowed down since then, it's likely to start aging as those scores are now getting out of the 30 day block where they're worth the most.

I'll probably be treading water for awhile because my posting schedule is so erratic, and currently heavily loaded to January.

#355  by Citizen Paguma - 2/18/2004 11:04:33 AM

Playing with the numbers I see if I posted a 60,000 point game today, I'd go up a few thousand points. If I post that same 60,000 game after Feb 28th I'll actually lose over 10,000 points.

Of course, unless I keep posting regularly, the longer I wait, the more I lose.

It does explain why I lost points for my post yesterday though, I knocked some of my January Maso games out of the 30 day block.

I did it on the Guardians' website...

That usually makes scores go up IME

But if you have a whole bunch of (higher scoring) games close together like I do in January, you end up pushing those out, and dropping their contribution to your score by 10% (in this case). I think that was more than what I gained by adding the 1 game to my score.

I should also mention it went down a couple thousand points. We're not talking about a huge drop.

No problem I will see if I can add the link tonight.

It is just when I go home from work and start playing GC I get into my I will call the quits when mode.

Hey hey hey fellow Federators.

Sorry for being away. What happened? 7th place now eh.

Anyways how is the newest build. I am anxious to get my butt kicked, errr, kick some butt. Ya that's better.

I think you're right. I found a problem in my spreadsheet. Although my score did go down a little yesterday I think. Not sure how that happened.

I think I'm going to write a program to take:

player id
theoretical game score
submission date

And then have it return what your new metaverse and profile score would be. It could read your game history from the metaverse.

That sounds like a fun programming project!

Sounds like you have lots of time on your hands

Welcome John,

R1.19 and AP play almost the same AP has a few new ships and Major races.

What is new,

The disappearing ship bug is gone.
To combat cultural flipping and terror star exploits the more starbases you build the more they cost. 250, 500, 750 etc

And if the Boss has that much time on his hands then maybe he needs to play more.

Hey John... Good to meet you.

I assume you say the 1.19 thread in the GF by our Goddess.

It's actually not that hard, plus I've been meaning to learn how to parse html programmatical to retrieve data. I've wanted to be able to do that before. Once you get the data, the processing for the scores is very simple.

And if the Boss has that much time on his hands then maybe he needs to play more.

Yeah, but I have a short attention span, other things come up that grab my attention for awhile. Like other games, or movies, or tv, etc... I seem to get to play GalCiv 1-2 times a week right now. That's not bad.

I can now read my submissions from the Metaverse, so I just need to add the math to calculate the scores now.

That's the easy part. I'll make an html front end to it tonight and post a link here.

Reading from the metaverse or the math? Obviously others must know how to read from the metaverse because you have that stat bot. As for the math for calculating the scores, I just used the math Primipilus Alexus has published.

I'm going to turn it into a java servlet with an html front end. I have some stupid little bug right now, that the dates aren't calculating properly so a couple of my games are falling in the wrong buckets. As soon as I sort that out, I'll post it.

Give me time to clean it up and I'll post the source code eventually.

I'm tired of working on it today, but here is a demo to prove I'm close.

http://paguma.no-ip.org/galciv/galtest.html Link

All it does now is, given a stardock ID, retrieve your game stats from the metaverse, and recalculate your profile/metaverse score as if your last game was submitted today.

I will update it to re-calculate based on a new game submission on a date of the user's choosing but that doesnt' work yet.

Please note this is not tested, and will very likely blow up if you give it bad data. It's also very slow, because my web server is running on an ancient 300 MHz box running Linux.

You need to feed it a valid Stardock ID to work. You can get the Stardock ID from the profile page for users.

I'll likely finish this tomorrow and start to clean it up.
