All is good in the CSF today. Beer and deep fried peperoni for everyone.

Watched a pile of vampire movies this long weekend. The cruelty to vampires brought a tear to my eye ...

Pretty sad state of affairs when the message you edited only had smiley faces!

Indeed. That is truely a sad state of affairs.

The cruelty to vampires brought a tear to my eye

And now you know why I don't watch those kinds of movies... All the crying, the red eyes, the sniffiling... Just ruins my image as the greatest UnDead Hunter of all time!

LUNCH!

Exactly... all those lovely snacks sitting around the Claw drinking beer... brings a tear to my eye alright.

Nothing like adding more flavour to your snacks

I'm more interested in what Da Moose does not like. Like maybe garlic to keep the undead away

We consider garlic to be a garnish, we crush it and rub it into rump of ED. Helps bring out the taste.

And I thought this was a 'G' rated thread!

Hey Newf... Just read in the paper they release Doom 3 yesterday. When are you getting your new computer?

Well ... I pick up the game today. I had it preordered.

I still do not have the computer. But, I think that I will start buying it over the next week or 2.

Its been 4 years since I had a new computer. This one may be an AMD FX53 with 1 gig of memory. I am still debating on the video card. ATI 800 XT is a great card except that it does not do good with D3. The GEforce 6800 ultra is a good card and really good with D3 and is probably the one I will go with.

My problem is ... this is a lot of money for a computer. I may get something a bit less powerful but there is no need to rush into the purchase.

My current computer is a P3 500 which plays galciv nicely on the smaller maps.

I not a fan of ATI. They do not do a very good job on the drivers. The last ATI card I had, the drivers finally got OK just as the technology was 2 generations old ... slight exageration but when I buy a card I expect that it will do what it is advertised to do.

I have a ATI Radeon 8500 and ATI finally got thier act together on drivers. Also, the ATI cards are genearlly cooler and quieter thatn the Nvidia. ATI also just release beta drivers optimized for D3. If I had a faster machine (dual P3 733), I'd pick up a faster vid card and try out he game, but I'm waiting for computer prices to drop.

I'm pretty much out of it since my laptop isn't any good for FPS games. I've got a card for it though, Radeon Mobility 9000. Only 512 RAM, which can also be a problem.

Yeah... It's all about the money... Should I buy a new computer or should I eat? Tough choice.

Of course I do supliment my diet with G-Men, but still the Mrs. might get a little upset and we want to avoid that at all costs.

So true. I do have permission from the Mrs. to get a new computer but my sense of responsibilty has me waiting ... waiting for better prices. I may have to wait for a few years for the FREE price I am after though.

I do plan to buy a new computer sometime this year. It's funny how the price of all the components are so much cheaper now than 3-5 years ago, except video cards. Well I guess you can get a nice video card for $100, but if you are REALLY into the 3D games like DOOM, the good cards for that are $250+.

With the cost of the other components, you can almost by an entire computer for the cost of a good video card.
