Hello? Hello? Any one here or hear?

Ah well... whatever.

Got my first chain saw today. Spent 2 1/2 hrs cutting up one of three big branches that fell from a tree in my back yard. Very cool things chain saws... the Mrs. Da Moose said I had a maniacl look in my eye as I start surveying the other trees in the area... But what does she know... she's just a girl... (Good thing she does actually visit the boards... shudder...)

ANyway... I'm on holiday this week so I will probably be even more scarse than usual. But may have time to pop in early in the mornings.

See ya'

Oh yah, it was suppose to be me. Never mind. Da Moose put replay of the last springs Stanley Cup Final on the big screen in the crypt I kind of got distracted. Sorry about that butt cheak LW

Back to step 1 on the 12 step program for LW. Repeat after me. My name is LW and I am a snack.

Hey, for all you Canadians who miss hockey. This game looks cool:

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/sports/eastsidehockeymanagerfe/index.html?q=nhl+eastside Link

NHL Eastside Hockey Manager

You can manage your own team, and teach those greedy players a lesson!

Now, you want to hear something weird... According to the survey last year, Canadians, per capita, spend more on computer games than people from any other country. Now I'm guessing on this one, but I'd guess that the percentage of Canadians who care about hockey is probably higher per capita than most, if not all other countries, and certainly for NHL anyway.

So, that leads me up to the very curious decision... This game is not sold in Canada....

Although there is a USA based online merchant who ships to Canada at a very reasonable price. I played the demo and it looks cool, if you're into management type games of course, which I am.

Oh, and I do apologize for the late announcement.

Please welcome Takadoe to the Canadian Senate.

You can now quit working, and move to Mexico.

How much did he have to deposit in your numbered off shore account Paquma.

Congrats to Takadoe

Thanks for the tip on the game. I might download demo. Just bought nhl 2k5 for ps2 at a good price compared to EA's version. Nothing like price competition in the market place. I buy EA's version every year but how can you lose with 2k5 pricing.

I think that I am missing an inside joke? Care to explain the joke away?

Seems like the esteemed goverment officials of your nation get elected, stop doing anything productive and head for warmer climes. Not a half bad idea.

There was a famous canadian senator who lived full time in Mexico collecting his pay and would show up in the senate once or twice a year to justify his pay. Don't know his name, hopefully he is dead now.

In Stevie Camerons book on the Mulruney years she said that if you wanted to be a senator all you had to do was deposit 100,000 dollars in Mr Mulruney personnal account and he would appoint you.

(The senate in Canada in appointed not elected and has no real power accept the power to waist tax payers dollars.)

Good Morning CSF...

Yup. The sad thing about it is that's not the worst waste of tax payer dollars though.

Guess that's the same every where though.

#4365  by Citizen NewfyScotian - 9/23/2004 6:39:45 AM

ah, yes. I guess I just missed the boat on that one. I remember that senator well.

What an excellent solution! Well worth the money to keep them from mucking things up by passing laws. We should look into that in the states!

Not sure but somehow the US system sounds what is the term I am looking for... more democratic

If Governor General, appointed senate, and Monarch disappeared Canadians would lose nothing.

We pay millions to these clowns, every year to support a method of government which is 200 years obsolete.

I maybe a heretic but I always wondered why the northern British colonies which latter became Canada did no revolt when the 13 American colonies did.

If I remember my history correctly, I think we did try to "liberate" Quebec (or maybe Montreal, don't remember now) from the British. Didn't work out. It is a BAD plan to attack in winter up there...

#4369  by Diplomat Technician - 9/23/2004 11:29:45 AM

That is right the British marched down to Washington did not know what to do with it turned around and went back north.

It was called the War of 1812, the Americans were a generation too late.

If it was 1776 and you were in talks with colonists in the Canadian colonies it may of worked out different.

Hmmm, I remember one from the revolutionary war. I'll have to see if I still have the book at home that talks about it.

Benedict Arnold !!! Interesting thanks.

#4373  by Citizen Genghis Hank - 9/23/2004 12:06:17 PM

Funny...

Arnold was considered our best general in the early days of the Revolution, just as Lee was in the the Civil War. In the end, they both chose the wrong side. There's something in that, but I'm not sure what...
