I usually take federalists for economics and 5 points for the +1 speed bonus then another couple for another economics bonus and the rest of the points for things like weapons or defense. That's about all I can think of about how I play. Suggestions would be appreciated guys. Thanks. |

Since a golden rule at maso is to avid war whenever possible, try the research.inc party, and forget any war bonus. If you want to play with standard parties, try the populist. Morale is very important and diplomacy help a lot. Don't forget to bribe AI. And occupied AI are better than inoccupied: if they are at war between them, they will "love" you since you will be their only trade partner. And that means lots of cash
After Earth builds one or two colony ships I start it on a constructor with hopes of grabbing a resource or two |

Starbases aren't important at the beginning of the game. It is better to improve Earth (with PQ booster, morale booster, eco booster ...) and do some research to have something to exhange. And if you have enough diplomatic skills (with lots of thing to exchange), you can get starbases buit on ressource by the AI
