500 posts in less than a month, and we're known as the undead for being quiet?

Well, quiet and sneaky, to be precise. Time to update the profile a bit. The old Canadian undead used to be solitary ambush predators who would creep up on the victim and then rip them to shreds to feast upon their living flesh! (Scary.)The kill rate of each individual hunter was high and each had a large hunting range. This was rather effective for the species as a whole despite the rare interactive between the isolated undead.

The new Canadian undead have evolved. They are now highly social beings who work together as pack hunters. The yowls and growls of these packs of undead can be heard for miles around the land of the living dead called the Graveyard. When a pack decides to hunt, they all work together using combinations of speed and stealth to set up traps. The chasers of the pack herd the prey and the ambushers finish them off. The whole pack then shares the spoils based upon the individual's hierarchy in the pack.

Re: 471. Thanks Paguma! I'll give it a try now.
I can relate to the date problem. Time is a funny thing to program sometimes.

I'll be submitting a few this weekend I think... I just did some number crunching, and despite popular belief, I think I'm better off posting alliance victories than military ones.

Sure the latter gets you more points, but I can submit alliance victories almost twice as fast. For a difference of 48,000 versus 35,000. If I can submit almost twice as many 35,000 games that will generate more points (even with the sqrt modifier) than half as many 48,000.

I can probably win Huge Masochistic universe in about 2 hours via alliance. The same would take me 3-4 for military depending on how bad of a start I got.

I'm going to try this out this weekend by posting several quick games instead.

Of course the other reason to do this, is military victories get tiring rather quickly. You know you're going to win, but you spend the next hour moping up the galaxy.

The Alliance is made: beware the combined power of the European Alliance, Mid-Western Confederation and teh Canadian Star Federation!!!

The Java Date class was giving me bogus results for some reason. I still never figured that out, but it worked when I switched to a Calendar class instead.

The class Date is depricated, the replacement is Calendar wich you already found. They must have had good reason to change it

Come to think of it. Isn't that what Tech's been doing all along? He's part Yor I tell you.

Gerakken,

That was very good. I like it.

Ah, I just played my first game at v1.20. Is that starbase cost really supposed to prevent culture bombing?

Man, it's not even a speed bump. Most culture bombing happens mid game after all the trade routes are established. At that point of the game, I'm so filthy rich it doesn't even make a dent. Not to mention the fact you only need 4-6 starbases at a time and can just disband them when you're done.

Oh well.

Doh!

Emperor Paguma was recently spotted at a crazy Festival at the local Party Palace. His image, no longer a secret, has been published in his profile.

You can clearly see he is Canadian.

Only for the mid range players I think... Those at the top difficulty already know that the winning is done in the early game. Mid and late game are just for mop up. Those in the lowest difficulty are still learning.

Remember, the AI is oriented to the average player. At least that my understanding of Brad's comments.

Well... We know the Technician is at least part Yor... otherwise how would all those game get submitted with such machine like regularity?

Of course the Technician could just be a hard working, dedicated palyer too.
