Gotta keep up the Jones' or is that the RBers.

For the Undead, y'all are clipping along nicely in this new forum. Page three already in your thread? If forum posts were points, you'd have long since passed us by. Speaking of points, I should try to get a game in this week. Been doing too much Morrowind.

Anyone know when the 'Verse updates are done? I was expecting a change in our Empire total... but that does not seemed to have happened. At leaset at the time of this writing.

I would not worry I think we are making gains.

I hopefully can finish off another Maso Game tonight,

I have 3 races left I am Allied with 2 races the third race is only friendly. I hope to win them over.

Here is where I stand,

The yellow Guys I can not spell there name,
are

2) Population
3) Military
1) Techs

At War with Yor and Allied Dregin and Friendly with me

Drengin

3) Population
1) Military
3) Techs

Allied with Acrean, me, and Yor.

Yor

4) Population
4) Military
4) Techs

Allied with me and Drengin at war with Acrean,
They are really in trouble !!

Humanity

1) Population
3) Military
2) Techs

See I can not go to War againest the Yor, I would lose my strongest Ally they would likely call a War against me.

Whay would you do ?

I have had a subscription to Object Desktop for years. Based on my observations... Updates are supplied for the individual programs at the same rate as for the OD subscribers. The difference is the OD subscribers get them slightly, 1-2 weeks earlier.

I have OD my favorite program and Stardock's best program is Window blinds.

Do you know if the License allows me to install OD on the Computer I use at Work. I use it at home without a hitch.

If you are going for Alliance... I'd let the Yor and Drengin finish off the Acreans. Keeping friendly or allied with the Yor and Drengin. While you're waiting you can pump out AMMs or whatever to move your Mil rating up. Either the Acreans will die and you'll win or you'll out gun them and they you can ally with them and win.

Or... you could just drop some party favours and wait for them to flip.

Rally depends on how fast you want to end it. I think the AMM route would be quickest.

Don't know. I would guess (and it is just a guess) it does not allow you to do that.

Yup. I also really like CursorXP and IconPackager. THe whole BootScreen thing is kinda neat as well.

Any luck getting your game past the CTD.I was thinking if you have some ships moving automatically you may want to halt the movement of you ships at least for a few turns. I seen crashes a long time ago with survey ships manually change directions I get past the crash.

I was skeptical but this actually solved my problem. The bad news is, I was not in as good of a position as I thought. The Altarian/Torian alliance is too much for me. I can outproduce them, but their military adjustments make their ships too strong for me. (Altarian anyway)

I do have a save game from an hour earlier I was trying to avoid, I think I'll back up and see if that puts me in a better situation.

If not I'll just start over this weekend. Too bad, I was looking forward to the Gigantic Masochistic victory...

All is not lost hopefully Stardock will have a good game that they can work with to kill another bug.

Be nice to have another CSF Maso win but on the other hand it will make it easier for me to catch up with your score

I may stick with Huge games. The Gigantic ones take a lot longer and don't generate much more points than Huge.

#61  by Diplomat Technician - 2/4/2004 1:44:44 PM

It takes me about 6-7 hours to play a gigantic game.

How long does a hugh game last ?

Does your strategy change ?

What type of game is harder a game on a hugh or gigantic map ?

Man... I must be doing somethiong wrong. Double that for me.

#63  by Citizen Paguma - 2/4/2004 5:53:13 PM

Well, it all depends on how long I want to play the cultural game. I can usually do a Huge in 3 hours give or take 1 hour. Probably at least double for Gigantic, and there's only about 10,000 difference in points.

I don't think my strategy is much different between the two. You have to be a little more careful on Gigantic because the other AIs have more time to get entrenched before you start hurting them. Sometimes they may get too powerful. So in that respect I guess I would say Huge is easier.

It would be easy to have longer games,

I Use governers, keep pressing turn, avoid wars and go for alliance.

I tried a variation on the Terror Star Alpha Strike at the end of my last game... Basically I was flipping planets every 3 to 4 turns and didn't want to wait until the end. I'd been building constructors for like ever... a couple of hundred or more so I just stack, pack and rack.

First very, very chezy. I mean dropping 100,000 BCs in to red that's just wrong. And yes I know it's a known exploit.
Second, talk about painful micromanagement. I'd rather just hit enter for ten years.
Finally, it works really well and there is something... well... satifying about consigning 200 billion aliens to the great beyond in a twinkling of an eye.

Yeah... well... I remeber you saying something about just hitting the trun button and Tech just mentioned it as well... Too much micromanagement on my part I guess. I just can't bring myself to hit turn for a year and then go look and see who hates me. I just gotta know right now.

Here is my latest game update,

1.13 it is looking good, I trade with the majors for all the techs I can get. Find a minor race offer techs for cash and when they run out of cash take their systems. With the cash I get from the minors I am building "Party Place" starbases next to the major races' sectors.

This strategy is why I have not been play alot of AP games.

Meet a Minor in AP I offered them 5-6 techs they have lots of cash but give me nothing. I get no extra cash from minors and can not afford to buy starbase which now cost more and more for each starbase you build.

Paguma, You should really make up a pitch for the CSF on the main forum

Something like,

Canada is the Country that equalities to friendship, want to join a friendly Empire join the CSF.

That's pretty good... But I think we should add... 'And if you don't join, well... whatever'.

Technician... So you're not haveing a lot of success exploiting the Minors? What's up with that?

Hey I see the 'Verse finally updated. Dagnabit... I thought we were closer to RB than it turns out to be.

I feel another game comming on.

#71  by Diplomat Technician - 2/5/2004 8:26:48 AM

I can not find away the exploit minors when I play AP.

As they used to say in the GC OS/2 the only thing they are good for is their bodies make great fuel for the Death Furnaces.

RB has one guy cracking out 60000 point maso games like they are going out of style.

I went to my older saved game for the gigantic I had screwed up last weekend. I am now back in the drivers seat.

Unfortuantely my save was right after starting the war with the Altarians. A war, I found out about an hour later was premature!

So I gave him 9 planets to return the peace. Little did he expect 8 of them were right next to the sectors of party palaces and they all flipped back to me within 4 turns.

After achieving the peace again, the constructor fleets went nuts and took out another 20+ planets. Now I have the Torians all but crippled, and the Altarians limited to maybe 10 planets, and planets in the MIDDLE so I can reach him easier.

Although their combined military is still bigger than mine, I have about 8 times the production power, so I'm going to try the war again...

That being said, I probably could have finished 4-5 Huge games by now. This is one of my tougher ones!

It sounds like your game is turning around.

You should be able to get some type of revenge wiping out several billion Aliens.

Hey, what the heck is going on here? The Canadians are actually participating in the forums. Anyway, it's great to see this thread is active -- we'll have to think of nickname as the undead doesn't seem to fit.

I should be an honorary Canadian, I know live close to the border and go to Toronto every other month for culture / shopping - and to Montreal every summer. My city is running a ferry between here and Toronto starting in Spring - so it'll be every easier for me to visit. More importantly Labatts Blue is the most popular beer in town... Hey, I ever go to the occassional hockey game...

Cheers,
Cypher
