Hey RoJo... Just saw you signed up for the RB SC game. That's great man. I also noticed you've been move up the difficulty scale. THe SC game should be right up your alley. Go get 'em.

I do not think I can get another win tonight.

I wonder when my shield will start getting darker, my last 30 wins were all maso.

Well... You probably have a long way to go. Only about 1/4 of your games are at maso. Avg. Dif. according to the mwc statbot is 5.4. I'm running 7.71 which puts me some place in painful. The Boss is running 8.14 which is also painful. Bam Bam from RB is running 9.46 which puts him in chrippling. Slothrop from the Diplomats is at 9.6 which puts him in maso.

It is a matter of days before we will be passed in the standings.

I found one person with seven 60000 point Maso games in one day. Where did this guy come from anyway did he create a new personality just so all the scores will be 60000 point wins, to max out the points.

If I registered an new player I guess I could climb the Masoverse faster myself.

I think the Metaverse, the scoring systems for players and empires, and the clone wars has lost all credibility.

The sad thing is there is no way to fix the problem.

Fixing exploits does not work and even it did there would be no reason to upgrade to a version of GC in which your favourite exploit has been patched.

I guess if you can not beat them join them but what about the the guy stuck in 100 place because he does not all of the sudden build 10-20 terror stars to take out everybody elses system ?

I complained to deaf ears when Stardock created the Masoverse that people playing all levels are skilled in there own ways.
Got busted for it too. I upset somebody big time, and that is why I got demoted down to a Citizen. I do not think I was wrong the biggest mistake in the scoring system is Maso players are over valued and normal players are under valued.

Ok feel free to blast me for my feelings

>That's great man

Thanks for the encouragement gents. At a ranking of 961, I won't be in your league any time soon. I am looking forward to the SC game in order for it to help me take on harder levels, and contribute much more to our empire.

Congrats to Paguma and Technician for breaking the top 25!

Paguma, wanna share with your alliance brethren how you scored 60k on a large map? I am liking the time implications

It's rather simple actually. Control every planet in the universe and maintain a good population on most of them.

I only started getting 60,000 points with the new patch, but was getting in the 50,000 before that. THat's with all 7 races set to the highest level of course.

It does go fast, and you know if you're going to be able to win or not in the first 15-20 minutes so you don't waste a lot of time on failures either. I have found I need about 4 secure planets to be able to win them. THe more I get, the easier it is. One I started with 8-9 planets and that was just a complete cakewalk.

Sure you will. It's only a matter of time. And have fun while you're at it! The succession games are a great leaning tool. That's where I leaned to go from crippling to maso. (And to any RBers that drop by... thanks for bring this form of play to GalCiv.)

And as has been said before all contributions count. No matter how big or how often. And Frogboy has stated... "Play the game not the metaverse".

Details Boss... details. An AAR on the web site from you would be good. And also one from Tech.

I'll try to make a log next time. It's not terribly exciting... Although, it might be interesting because I think I play Masochistic differently than you (damoose) do. I am self taught, and didn't learn tricks from other people.

THat's not to say I don't use tricks, I just discovered them on my own. Some are the same others use, some may not be...

Boom!!! BOOM!!! BOOM!!! KABOOM!!!

The Canadian fortress has been distroyed by the accurate shooting of the new pirate vessel in the mighty fleet of Captain Sparrow, this ship is known as the Renegade Skull.

So you pesky little fellows, hand the bacon or your island is going to be wiped out by my cannons!!!!

PS: Just stopping by to say hello and wish you all good luck and good gaming

Yes… well... we only have 6-8 people that contrib regularly at my last count. 3 maybe 4 people who regularly contribute at maso. The Guardians have 15 very active people. So the end result is not in doubt.

I found one person with seven 60000 point Maso games in one day

Yeah I saw that in the Diplo thread, Slothrop I think. They asked… he gave a plausible explanation. And he was using 1.49 which has a big hole... Huge/rare/tight alliance wins give 60K. Only takes him 1 hr to play a game too.

If I registered an new player I guess I could climb the Masoverse faster myself

Lothmorg did that.

I think the Metaverse, the scoring systems for players and empires, and the clone wars has lost all credibility

Yes... It's difficult when the playing field is different for each player. It's good that Slothrop and others have 'beaten' the devs on the game (found the loop holes) I mean that's part of the fun after all. But I think that the next 'clone wars' needs to be a little tighter on versions and things. I do understand that this is the first one, kinda an experiment. And in a lot of ways has been very successful.

Fixing exploits does not work and even it did there would be no reason to upgrade to a version of GC in which your favourite exploit has been patched

True.

I guess if you can not beat them join them but what about the guy stuck in 100 place because he does not all of the sudden build 10-20 terror stars to take out everybody else’s system

It's all about playing for fun I think. If your fun is ruling the Masoverse, then great, if you fun is suspending disbelief and pretending that your mission is to save humanity from ET... then that too is good.

biggest mistake in the scoring system is Maso players are over valued and normal players are under valued

Well... maybe. If you are exploiting the system then yes. If you are playing the way the devs intended then no. Tough line to walk though.

Ok feel free to blast me for my feelings

NO! No flames allowed. Vigorous discuss and even disagreement, but no blame or flame... ever. At least from me.

I look forward to it.

When you get around to it of course. Knowing your short attention span.

Technician I agree with you 100%, the game is loosing interest because of the masowar, if you want to get good scores, you must play maso otherwise your scores aint worht anything, check mine and you will understand why? I have to move from playing the level I enjoyed the best (That was challenging and tough) to higher levels because I was receiving only 1 or 2 k per submission and I don't think that it is fair to have such a huge difference between those kind of victories, I always try to promote the creation of divisions, here is my idea

Emperor Division (Only Maso games)
Senator Division (Tough to Crippling)
Overlord Division (Cakewalk to Challenging)

And my goal was that each division will give the same level of points +K for Maso (no limit in points), 50K for Crippling (max) and 40K for Challenging (max).

I think that way

This is a great attitude to have, damoose! I've been a very vocal proponent on this point for a long time. We all continue to play this game because we have fun. We all have different skills and difficulties, but we all share in the same belief that this game is fun to play and the Metaverse is a fun place to chat and enjoy each other's company.

The Guardians have 15 very active people.

Well, 14...but yes we are very lucky to have an empire full of people who are still enjoying the game and having fun killing Yor.

Thanks. For me it is always about fun. When I stop having it then it's time to go on to something else.

I satrted my game and was taking notes. I'll continue to do so because I promised, but just to warn you, I got an unusually good starting position. I own all the planets in the bottom right. I have 8 habitable planets uncontested. Last time I had that many planets in a Large galaxy I coasted to victory beating the AIs in everything...Of course, I've been known to screw up, and who knows, maybe someone else is even better off!

#874  by Citizen Paguma - 3/9/2004 9:34:59 PM

nah, I walked through that one... I onlyt ook notes for the first 12 years, after which it was very clear I wasn't going to have any competition...
