Welcome,

I like the term "Undead". I have really not had much time to develop our Web Page but the term "Undead" is my little graphics motivation.

I live in Toronto I did hear of the Ferry.

I wonder really how much time will you save and how will the ferry will be accepted.

Toronto for culture?

Sorry, given where I live, I have to say that. It's part of the test.

By using the amazingly cheesy 'Lightning Alpha Strike' thingy... Take a look at the tech forum... and of course the minor detail of having waay to much time on their hands.

Btw. Greldon from FOTR did 4 on a weekend...

For you recruitment thread include the God joke from the other thread it's good

I love Toronto. I don't get the Rochester ferry thing and I'm a native... Toronto is a world class city and in good, weather or bad - an excellent walking city with excellent public transportation if you don't feel like walking. Rochester is a nice mid-sized US city. I can't think of anything present in Rochester that you couldn't find in Toronto on a bigger scale... except for violent crime. For some reason, people here seem to think traffic on the ferry would be two way. Also, the ferry will take three hours which is the same time it would take to drive without stopping...

As for culture, Toronto runs excellent tourist specials for Yankees. In the summer, I got a night at the Royal York, 2 tickets to the Lion King, dinner at Milestones, and 2 tickets for the Expo and Ontario Place for $118 US each. Then we came back and subbed Lion King for Mama Mia and tickets to a BlueJays game. We bought another packet to see the Producers and tickets to a Raptors game. This time we're staying at the Delta Chelsea so we're closer to Eaton Centre - though we'll probably go to Milestones again... I'd pay more the hotel and dinner than I pay for these packets which always include a play and another event. It's an amazing deal and they've been running non-stop since your little SARS scare....

I really like Ottawa and Quebec City, but neither is really big enough to return frequently. I've been to Montreal three times and I just feel like I'm getting to know my way around...

Yes, Americans love Toronto...

Although there was a comedian who once joked when we had some national issues involving Quebec that no one in Canada can agree on anything. Well, almost nothing, the one thing that we can agree on from coast to coast, is we all hate Toronto.

That being said, I probably could have finished 4-5 Huge games by now.

That's why I play large... It just takes too d&mn long otherwise.

As far as hating Toronto think of us driving to work on pot holes while 9 billion dollars in Taxes leave our City for the rest of Canada every year.

Canada definitely has some of the most beautiful parts of God's green earth... When I was in Seattle I took a boat north to Victoria and then went to Whistler and Vancouver by train. It was a great weekend! I wish I had more time there...

I'm also been to Manitoba on a canoe trip - took a wonderful trip to a place so remote I had to fly in on one of those boat planes.

Heck, this summmer I took my daughter (who was six months old at the time) to McGill University, it's never too early to start planning...

So in short, I've loved every part of Canada I've seen -- maybe, I can be your Ministry of Tourism.

Thanks for cheering us up!

Actually, that's one of the problems facing our country right now. Urban decay. Well, it was probably our turn, we've been watching it in many US cities for the past 10-15 years... We're always a little behind them.

Paguma,

Have you thought about putting a CSF post up in the recruitment thread ?

Saw a bit on TV about the seasonal ice roads across frozen lakes in the NW territories...and I thought Chicago and Nashville roads were bad!

BTW, happened to review a map of Canada on-line awhile back, and saw that my knowledge of Canadian geography was out of date - the NW Territories had been split!

3 questions for Canadians:

1. Is it true that "Nunavut" - the eastern half of the territory - is a word in the local Native American dialect meaning, literally, "Big Fat Nothing?" (There is a similar rumor about the word "Texas" down here Stateside...but it's only mentioned in the other 49)

2. Why was it split in half? Did they finally get a critical mass of, say, 20 people living there?

3. Where does the Quebec independence issue stand? If sharing a border with Americans keeps you from sleeping at night, imagine our worries about the possibility of a neighbor dominated by people who speak French...

A few reasons why they split of the North West Territories. The major reason I heard is it was part of a Native American land claims settlement.

I have no idea what "Nunavut" means

Do not get me talking about Quebec I was born and raised in Quebec but I live in Ontario now. Want to know why a clue is the language I am typing in ?

Nice active thread people!

Hate to say it but we lived outside NY city (White Plains, NY) for 2 years and we used to escape to Canada for the culture/underlying soceital structures/etc. Much closer in feel to Australia than USA.

People were great in both countries though! (But how do you stand that weather?? about 30 degrees C today with blue skies!)
