You're lucky I'm a pacifist.

Special Forces Press Release:
"The departure of Overlords Terl and Greldon from the FOTR fleets has apparently reduced their strength below the level to stand on an even footing with SF. Though no official peace overture has been received, open battles between SF and FOTR have ceased.
"Meanwhile, sensor drones shaped suspiciously like huge filing cabinets, along with several Aston-Martin, BMW and Peugeot corvettes, have been seen along the outskirts of SF space. We must assume that these are advanced scouts for the European armada. Though war has not been officially declared, relations are 'wary' and falling like a rock. Caution is advised."
Special Forces offers an unconditional peace treaty to the FOTR as of this date. This war has been destructive for both sides, and we both face an imminent danger from the European forces. Besides, after relations are normalized, we can resume trade. We miss that pipeweed.
Though I'm merely an overlord, SF regulations permit diplomacy to be conducted by any available party if the need is pressing and our noble Emperor is in the loo.

Ah, a ceasefire! That sounds wonderful!
Unfortunately, with our Emperor Ray unavailable for comment, our Regent Theoden gone, and our emergency backup leader Greldon also gone, no-one is available to sign your peace treaty. Let me check our constitution to see what happens now... Hm... It looks like the war must continue until every one of us is dead. Hey ho.

Maybe Arclite could join the Fellowship and take over running it for a while?

Toilet diplomacy wins again: it's the only way to run an Empire

Though I'm very happy for the Guardians, I really am sad to see the Fellowship going through these hard times. Hopefully, our two empires will continue to enjoy the fun and camraderie we've shared over the last several months.
I'm rather sick at the moment, fighting off some stomach thing, so I'm going back to bed.

Sorry to see folks go but that happens. Thanks for being an empire member Greldon & Terl. If you had to leave at least you are joining Theoden.
I have another 60k gig maso in the pipeline - probably tomorrow. I can't remember how often the FotR has gone over 4 million and then back under lately. .
I read the 1.19 posts from Cari & Frogboy. It does sound harder especially on gigantic maps. At this time I really get my trade started as early as possible to get the money going fast. Too often the Alexians get blasted before we can trade so I am used to that. The logisitics sounds like you biff one race at a time with alpha-strike terror stars and decommision "used" party palaces and terror stars. Sounds like we might have to fine-tune economics and it might take longer to play.
But with the AP beta only 2 weeks away, there is no rush to upgrade at this moment. The suicidal level sounds cool. The more AI opponents the merrier. My hardest games are when one race runs away with the game (sort of like Matthew's single opponent game). Maybe AP will make this less likely and that would be great.
Other than the Alexians becoming tightwads too, any other changes in minors?

Minors seem a little tougher, but maybe I'm imagining it. You can still extort money from the newly spawned minors later on. That's my current plan for the late game; wait for the Sanderians, surround them with a human shield of ships to protect them from my allies, and then exploit them for all they're worth.
One more difference I've noticed is that you no longer seem to get planetary events when you colonise PQ < 12 worlds. I think you do get more general events, though. I managed to get my morality up to 100 in a Tiny game.

Woao a lot of changes in just 2 days!!!!

When stated the way you did, it may seem odd |
|
I didn't say it was odd. I said it was worrying. It seemed a very sensible reason, but I knew that such things were likely to snowball; if you left because there was no-one to talk to, then without you there'd be even less people to talk to, and we'd end up losing other people for the same reason. This is exactly what has happened since then. So, either we must attract some fresh blood, or merge with some other alliance, or abolish the Fellowship and find new homes, or risk becoming a legacy alliance, where all the members are retired from active participation.
Mind you, we're still ranked third, well ahead of the Jedi, and this is actually a reasonably lively thread at the moment, with lots of visitors, so it's too soon to be writing an epitaph just yet.

For me, it was the lack of participation on the forums more than number of games submitted |
|
They're quite closely linked. Chatting to people on these forums makes me want to play GalCiv again, and submitting games makes me want to check out the forums for activity. People who retire from playing frequently retire from the forums too.
