Glad to see some activity here, you know.

I'm not on AP Beta, I'm on plain, ordinary v1.19.
On AP, is it "normal" then to have to cut back on spending while the economy is recovering or has someone figured another way to not go into the red? |
|
I always seem to end up doing this now. While trying to build Diplo Trans, I let my balance work its way down to -500, and have to pull myself back afterwards. Annoyingly, you can no longer build starbases while in debt.
It sounds a little easier on AP since you can have more AIs, hence more incoming trade.
Another 1.19 update - galactic resources still appear on your radar when there's an AI starbase on top of them. This is a nice improvement that I've wanted for a long time.

It probably won't affect our membership much. It's a long time since we did any aggressive recruiting.

I can tell you that 1.49 "feels" very good. All these majors tend to level out the starting game, making later strategic decisions, alliances, etc much more decisive. Maybe it is a bit easier because of that (for me, since Im not very good at managing the early grab/tech race). In my current 1.19, Arceans have half the galaxy, allied with the Yor and torians, all of which at war with me... I guess the end is near.
But I think I'm trying out 1.19, and next week 1.2, but i like AP a lot more: the crowded galaxies make for interesting games...
About the deficit thing, I face it in all my games. But it is true that there is more trade going around in AP, but it is true for every AI. However the fact that there are many of them, allows for economic destruction of a major Major AI by several minors Majors, in case one of them has reached the decisive critical mass before you do. It was great to have a 4 races alliance against the Yor (+1 very clever that remained neutral) and progressively crush their economy to the point where no rebuilding was possible to replace lost ships, at which point I knew we had defeated him.

Wow. Lothmorg just went to Theoden's empire too. Thanks for your time in FotR Lothmorg. |

Thanks! It was fun while it lasted, but I like the idea of being in a small group, struggling to reach the top. There are many talented players still in the Fellowship, and I'm sure you all will do just fine without me.
Say "Hey" to Ray when you see him! And, thanks again to everyone in the FotR who welcomed and supported me.
I will miss being a part of this fine empire, but my duties now lie elsewhere.
Take care.

At this rate, the Fellowship will soon be a small group, struggling to reach the top.

Roll with the punches and keep going. |

I disagree! I say we should adopt a policy of defeatism and apathetic whining!

Hmmm. Coming from the 3 most recent former FotR's...

It's so lonely here... What's the point? What's the point of it all?
[looks around surreptitiously] Is it working? Any new recruits yet?

Hey, can I joi...oh, wait...darn that's a neat pitch. Keep the faith - it's hard when you've climbed the mountain and then start to feel you're going down the other side. The Fellowship have a rich tradition...and if you don't keep talking, the Jedi are going to take over the thread, so...
