Hi all. It's been busy but I caught up on the thread and finally completed a game. AP should be out soon. We can email Ray and see if we can extract him from Star Chamber. Otherwise Matthew and Ray can work it out. Sorry about the 8 day gap in game submission but real life is busy sometimes. Man, I am sinking like a rock in the Metaverse.

Last week I watched the 3-DVD Sci-Fi Channel version (~2000) of Dune for the second time (six hours of movie). It was great. Children of Dune, also six hours, was not as good as Dune but was enjoyable. When I watched the David Lynch Dune, it was sad how they had to "fast forward" so much of the story because it was only 2 hours long but it was still OK. Well that is my sci-fi movie review tip for the week. Later . . .

Weyrleader,

Congratulations on your 43K Cripling game. I believe that is a non-maso record.

I believe that is a non-maso record.

According to the statbot data, it is.

I've been gone for four days. Did anyone notice? I was ill, and then after I was ill I didn't care enough to post.

And just because I had a plan for taking over the alliance doesn't mean I had any intention to go through with it. It was purely hypothetical.

Hello Matthew. Good to see you around. It was very quite in this thread.

Sorry to hear that you were ill Matthew. Wondering why it was so quiet. Glad to hear you are better.

Same here Matthew, sorry to hear you were sick, the FOTR is way toooooooooo quiet lately, no game submitted in the last 10 days.

no game submitted in the last 10 days.

Well, it would be silly to play this game all the time, wouldn't it? I mean, once you've played it and seen everything and learned to beat it on the hardest difficulty, what's the point, eh? You'd have to be a really boring person to play it again and again and again...

Spending a day in bed doing nothing at all, not even eating or watching television, was very refreshing. As a result, I've given up playing computer games entirely (for now). I'm instead trying to write a 2D scrolling shoot-em-up. I was inspired by playing this one: http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~cs8k-cyu/windows/tf_e.html Link
I liked the core gameplay, but I no longer want to play games which only end in death. I believe that once you've got the hang of completing level one, you shouldn't have to play it again unless you feel like it. So I'm trying to do a 2D shooter with a mission structure, something like in Super Mario World or Goldeneye. I'm also giving it a story - one that makes minimal sense because I'm writing it in fake badly translated English (of the All Your Bases Are Belong To Us variety). (http://www.engrish.com/ Link)

Good for you Matt. Let me know when you have it finish. I am also slowing down a little bit, my goal is to reach one million points and after that don't know what next, I just bought a program called Carrara 3d basics and I think I am going to spend sometime doing 3d graphics and maybe creating some 3D images to incorporate them in some mods, I think I am going to give playing for a while after I reach my goal and will write more mods.

Just wondering while we're discussing records. What is the pre ap record for each size and who has em? Just wondering.

The FotR has not gone 10 days without submitting since I have been a member because I have posted a game at least every 8 days (2 every 15) since last summer. I submitted Sunday but was pretty busy so didn't post. Sorry.

I have another game cooking where all the AI are friendly to me and fighting each other so that looks good to finish in the next few days. But it is quiet around here for sure.

Glad you are better Matthew. Mayito, playing to a million sounds like a good plan. I still like to play when I listen to music and take frequent breaks. Tonight we are going to watch a movie called "Insomnia". Hope it is good. Take care.

Good performaces from Pacino and Williams, but weak story and direction. Let me know what you thought.

My interest is purely scholarly. I'm fascinated by all kinds of algorithms, not least the enigmatic GalCiv scoring algorithm.

Acting was great. Pacino was perfect and seeing Robin Williams as villian was interesting. Hilary Swank did fine. I liked it, but liked director's Nolan's "Momento" better. Nolan's movies (only 3 I know of) are for those who want something different and certainly are not for everyone.

I think tonight (if it shows up from Netflix) is Amityville Horror. From what I know, it is a haunted house story, right? We'll see.

But, I better finish a game in the next couple of days . . . so off to make the Galaxy safe for humanity. .

Perhaps Alex could assist you with that request, although I don't know if statbot keeps track of non-AP vs AP. I would be curious myself.

Amityville Horror was just ok. I can't really recommend it.

I put in a 60k yesterday but it was not enough. The Jedi have overtaken us - we are now in fourth. GROSS will overtake us soon if Mayito and PBP/Jack keep at it. Keep having fun everyone.

Easy enough - based on the statbot records and ignoring 60k bombs....

I am guessing that the list is based on people who have never played AP? Because if not, I would be on that first list. I have a couple of 10K games on 1.13.

#1249  by Veteran Primipilus Alexus - 4/18/2004 5:03:40 AM

No - that list is the top score for each difficulty/size combo based on the data in the statbot for all non AP games. (I've played AP and I'm on it!)
