So I was being offered ten and a half billion quid a month for something that he could have taken for free?Hm... Make it eleven billion pounds a month and you've got a deal!

OK, I'll send my enslaved Yor over to make the electronic transfer...

Wait Greldon, no! This is my enslaved Yor! No, not the Greldonizer...

Oh well, guess I'll have to get some more bcs saved up...

I think a good improvement for the next update of GalCiv would be to make it possible to convert real money into game money, and vice versa. After all, real-world money is all stored electronically these days anyway, so I don't see any major technological obstructions.

Good idea! I could retire on the economy of my conquests!

I like to make 600 billion a month. One month of running the galaxy, and you're set for life!

Rather than read all 20,000-30,000 posts that I've missed over the last 3 months, anyone wants to fill me in on all the key scandals, betrayals, triumphs and bloodshed that happened over this time?

What happened to the Prime Minister?

Matthew,

It can be pretty demoralising if you start playing the vets over at Star Chamber at the beginning. Just ask Killa, he got his koala behind whipped for quite a while before he started to get the hang of the game and dish out some of his special koala killer moves.

Well, as you see, this place exists now. We moved over here because any help post was quickly becoming clogged with Join Us posts without any actual help. And everyone got pi**ed that wasn't in an empire, and this was created. So now the main forum is dead.

Dream Warrior, formerly Spellforce lost the title after Renegade/Mayito/any other names, started posting spam in the Diplomat's thread, and DW, with his power, deleted it. Renegade got mad, claimed abuse of power, and DW stepped down to end the scandel.

We had a "Clone War" with alliances between empires, with the FOTR, the Guardians, and the Diplomats in the winning one, by a score that was more than the other four alliances combined.

That's the big stuff.

It's really good to see you again, Ray.

Let me see if I can add some info. Let's see, Pontius changed his name to Captain Jack Sparrow for several reasons, among which were the recent Pirates of the Carribean movie and the Passion of the Christ movie (PontiusBruinPilot may have made some people cringe).

The Guardians officially declared war on the Yor, which caused our recruiting to explode and our crusade to eliminate the Yor has led us to number one in the Metaverse. You'll find the Guardians have very little good to say about the mechanical beasts.

The Diplomats have been very busy with their empire, including creating a seperate forum (which can be found at this http://diplomats.galciv.org/forum/index.php Link ), building their own website, and generally being good folk.

Special Forces showed some signs of life a week or two ago...sure hope they come back too.

G.R.O.S.S. obviously has gotten a lift from a couple of active players, including The Renegade (formerly Mayito). The pirates are having some weird things happen with the number of games that show up in the Metaverse and also with their scores. Nobody can figure out why it's happening.

There's been an ongoing debate as to whether there should be any empire related posts in the Galactic Forum. The GF has been relatively dead since the empires left, but we've pretty much self-policed ourselves from posting there.

Not too many promotions to Veteran or Diplomat, but that is probably due to so many projects going on right now with Stardock. The Political Machine is in Beta and is extremely interesting (when it doesn't crash). A new build is due out tomorrow.

Obviously the Metaverse Review is being taken care of for now by Magnumaniac while I take care of some real life issues. I lost my job about a month ago and have been frantically searching for work.

Hmmm...let's see, I'm sure there's quite a bit more.

Downie (Ha! Said it right this time!): Outstanding job with the Yor Techinique ad. We'll be sending our Avatars over to take care of any Yor that will be congregating shortly.

Outstanding job with the Yor Techinique ad.

I was going to put it on the Raven's Claw as post 10,000, but I came to realise that it might have put my life in danger to do so.

From the Fellowship viewpoint: Theoden, feeling that things were a bit stagnant, left us to form the Guardians. One or two players followed, and there was a sudden rush from all those who wanted to be part of an active upwardly-mobile empire with a lot of chat on their thread. This included Greldon and Lothmorg, who both started submitting 60K games at an enormous rate. (Lothmorg seems capable of doing six gigantic maso conquests in a single day...)
Acting on a theory that what it took to keep an alliance successful was an active thread, I made a point of posting regularly, to try to make us seem interesting. It didn't work. Thanks to Ricbayer's scoring as much as anything else, we kept ourselves in third place for a long time, right up until around the time the ANZACs split up and joined our rivals.

It did, however, lead to some very interesting posts!

This is very interesting reading. Thanks for participating everyone. Hey vinicible, are you around?

In my opinion, it is difficult for an empire to recruit when the charismatic, superstar, emperor goes inactive. We few left at the FotR try to keep the empire afloat hoping for the "return of Ray".

It is amazing how many players have spent at least a while in the FotR. As I slipped out of the top ten recently, I thought "wow, it has been a long time since there has been no ring in the top ten." But, stuff happens.

Right after Theoden told us that he wanted to set up his own empire to stir things up in the Metaverse and those of us in the Fellowship council gave him our full blessings, I decided to go MIA from the forums.

Key reason was that I wanted to encourage, through my absence, Fellowship members who wanted to continue their Metaverse adventures to rally to the banner of an active Emperor. I did not want to disband the Fellowship because the empire is full of memories and I wanted the empire name to live on in the Metaverse.

Honestly, I'm quite surprised that upon my return 3 months down the road, there are a couple of you who still haunt the Fellowship Halls.

I dunno, maybe the Fellowship can be revived once AP is out and we can relive those days of glory and adventure.

Something that I'm sure all the other empires would love to see.

This is the hope of many, not just in the Fellowship. I think we all would like to see every empire active and vibrant again.

You are all cordially invited to participate in the crowning of Lord SPAM (AKA The Renegade) as Honorary Spammer of the Guardians Empire.

This celebration will take place in the Greldon's private ranch at the foothills of Greldon Mountain National Park in Greldon County, 55 miles North of Greldonsburg.

So all the Ringers are invited to this unique event.!!!!

Yeah. Hm. OK.
Planning to take this Honorary Spammer role seriously, are you?
I may have to stop reading your posts.

I've got my playing-for-score technique down to 50 minutes for a 55K game. I might be able to cut it down to forty or so, but I still can't see how people get gigantic conquests in that sort of time.

You should be able to get 60k on a huge maso alliance in 1.49 in under 45 minutes....

Alex
