Depends on the speed of your computer, usually takes me like 1 hour to finish the game.

Nope, didn't read any of that.
You should be able to get 60k on a huge maso alliance in 1.49 in under 45 minutes.... |
|
Ehh, I'm close enough.

It does look like I need to upgrade to AP to compete. |

Since you've devoted so much time to this game, you really ought to buy Altarian Prophecy. It's very stable and reliable in its present Beta form, so there's no need to wait for the official release. It's not noticeably any more fun to play - the two extra races mean a ton of extra trade income, which makes things even easier for experts - but it's nice to have a change.
Having said that, Lothmorg still plays 1.13 and he's competing pretty effectively.

That has got to be one of the biggest understatements ever.

Hey,
What happened to those prizes that were supposed to be awarded to top performing players/empires of 2003? Did anyone get anything?
| |
|
|
I never read about any prizes. I think the big "awards" were the new medals but I can't recall exactly when they kicked in (? early 2004). You certainly have a nice red shield Ray and the blue "previous top 25" medal looks nice, but I think that's about it for the prizes.

I thought there were going to be free T-shirts for a few players or something like that. Can't remember what the details were.

|
Any amateur artists / musicians out there? I'm writing a 2D side-scrolling shoot 'em up, and I need more graphics for enemy spaceships, and if possible some silly tunes for background music.

My game I just submitted did not register with the Metaverse. Have others had problems?

Yes, the server has been funny today. My game submitted, but didn't affect my score - as if it didn't cause a recalc.

I couldn't tell what the effects of my actions were, so it wasn't strategy so much as blind groping. |
|
Yes, I found that too. Not enough feedback. It also suffers a bit from having-to-do-everything-yourself syndrome. In a lot of strategy games, if you click on Next Turn, you get the sense that people go on working for you, continue building whatever you told them to build, continue researching whatever you told them to research, continue paying taxes. In PM raising money etc felt like a chore I had to do. Could be a fundamental design flaw, or maybe I just didn't understand it enough.

Hi all. I resubmitted my game and it registered so things seem to be working better today. Whew.

I never heard a thing about them after Froggy's post. By the way, here is the post in question: Link
I just chalked it up to Stardock being too busy with everything else to worry about t-shirts. It's okay, they're a software developer, not a t-shirt factory!
| |
|
|
Well, Stardock could have just put up a Hall of Fame 2003 or something rather than give prizes.
Hey bakka, good to see the ole bat again.

That would have been nice but my guess is they spent the time on the new releases, etc.
Hmmm . . . wonder if I can start a new game today?
| |
|
T-Shirts and mugs would have been cool. Then again My wife would take that as irrefutable proof that I play video games too much.
