I guess we should not bring up Def Leppard then, huh?

No.

Hadn't looked at the Jedi thread in a long time. These forums aren't the ideal way to read episodic stories - it takes ages to find all the correct bits to read in order. I was thinking of putting my entire story sequence on the War of the Worlds website...
Enjoyed what I read of the story, anyway. I like it when someone acknowledges my existence. And I don't even have to worry about it violating the established Evil Ray continuity (inconsitency irritates me) because I left off my plot in an ambiguous, world-revised-owing-to-time-travel sort of way.

I have no problem with that. After all, "Def" is a slang word meaning "excellent" and "Leppard" is an old Persian word meaning "a long white pole you hang out of your window to frighten away wasps and lizards".

Well, lookie here. Another one we can add to the "safe" list.
MD, your powers of research astound me. I am surprised you did not score higher on your geek test.

Oh, I don't do "research". I'm far too busy making stuff up.

Why don't I believe you?

Jedi thread, posts 2787, 2809 and 2838, oh mighty iconoclastic bard. So far. Truly, a shameless plug never hurts. My apologies for inflicting you with David Lee Roth; as a rule, I despise torture, but this IS Yoda we're talking about, and I believe in being true to the character. I DID resist the urge to use Quiet Riot. C'mon, feel the noise.
And honestly, I'd forgotten about the WotW site. Anybody still have a link?

Umm...there's supposed to be continuity in Forum stories? Mine's only three chapters long, and the plot has already been forcibly mutated to fit current events. Pesky Guardians.
Good to see so many different Imperial shields in the Prancing Pony. Like old times.

Needed a Diplomat shield for the mix.

There is in mine. It's a 35,000 word epic, involving cursed rings, Dread Lords of Mordor, the parting of the Fellowship, the explanation for Evil Ray, galactic conquest, inter-species romance, and elf-toast.

Don't seem to be any of the good Guardian shields here... You know, I was hoping all along to split the Guardians up, but now that it's happened ('temporarily'), it's just two annoying metaverse-dominating Guardian empires instead of one.

If the square next to words "Initial minors are off" is empty, it is off. |

Thanks, Bromoser. I tried this again and it worked. Once again, I can make fun of the 'mighty' Alexians.
I won a 60K alliance game in record time, but at the price of not waiting until my morality hit 100.
Today, I mailed my novel 'The Third-Rate World' to an 'author's advisory service'. This is the sort of place you have to use now that publishers and agents no longer read unsolicited manuscripts. These people still insist on a double-spaced single-sided wide-margin printed format... There's enough blank space for me to write another three novels into if I wanted, and the manuscript is too thick to fit into any conventional folder.
This novel is not available in any shops, so fans of my work should instead check out the strategy guide I posted in the main forum's GalCiv Haiku thread.

I have been reading the WotW stories, and I must say that the "Temptation of the Ring" is excellent. Many thanks to all invloved in the writing.

Glad you enjoyed it.
Matthew's parts were the most outstanding as you would have probably noticed reading them.
I'm still amazed that the kind of writing talent that exists amongst players in a 4X strategy game.

Why shouldn't writers play 4X games, or 4X players write? I don't know if you've read anything by Iain 'M' Banks, but he used to buy a copy of Civilization 2, play it obsessively for a month, then ritually snap the CD in half. He'd repeat the process every year.
A 4X player needs dedication and an instinct for long-term planning. These traits are also essential for good writers.

The forum wouldn't be the same without the stories from all the authors. |

I hereby thank you in the name of "all the authors" (if they allow)

Hi all. Good to see you Ray.

Yeah, thread's a bit dead at the moment, isn't it? Someone want to introduce a new topic?
