Chapter 4: The Past
After placing the special projector, the Halutian dimmed the light.
”These documents are from a time more then 100000 years ago! And none except some of the Halutians had ever seen them!” he began.
‘Time code 2254.4.2’ was visible on the bottom of the holographic screen.
A voice in an, to the councillors, unknown language began to speak, a subtitle appeared. And some of them correctly concluded that they, for the first time, hear the halutian language.
“We finally found out what THEY are planning to do with us, they think that the project went wrong, what ever this project is. They call our development a mistake. We developed too much into an independent direction; they fear we won’t follow their orders any more.” The speaker said.
“Our covert operatives found out that they plan to kill us of before we grow too strong! Now one of the main problem is were are their COs and how we uncover and “retire” them?”
Meanwhile a large room has appeared on the Holo, four Halutians sitting around a simple table, several PDAs spread over it. Each wore a dark green combat suit with its bold, brown weapon belt, as Tolot wears one. It was visible that they were wildly discussing. Two of the persons on the screen appeared to be extremely large Halutians, more then 15 feet tall and about 10 feet wide. They appeared very impressive with their light grey hide.
“That tall two are Uleb” Tolot explained, anger was recognisable in his voice. “They were called Protectors; Controllers would have been a better word. Because that’s what they and their kind did on out world for more then two thousand years; they tried to keep the control over us. Whom they create to control this galaxy, something we found out later. We were supposed to be their warriors, but they underestimated the power their own genes, the base of our existence. Both our races were created to be warriors, but we both had the thirst for power in us too. As the creators of the Uleb!” Tolot explained.
“Anyhow, what you see is the last meeting of our Elder with the Headprotectors. The Elder demanded to finally give us our independence, they were killed by the two Uleb.” As he spoke a blast flashes over the screen and the two Halutians fumbled, one of them managed to fire his own blaster before hitting the ground, dead. The Uleb he aimed at was better prepared; the mighty blast striped one arm of his crystallized body only leaving a minor wound.
“A thing the Uleb, who tried to put the guilt on the Halutians, was that the meeting was filmed, by a hidden camera.
The war began 14 hours after the death of the Elder and we were better prepared then they thought. Within the next 8 hours we managed to take out more then 500 COs, before they were able to inflict any damage to us.
But then their ships came…
And it were lots of ships. We had about 95 thousand, they never found out why we had that many; they attacked with about three times that much. The war was fought for about one and a half century. Even thou their ships were much better armed and defended ours were faster and more manoeuvrable, due to way less size. They had ships up to a size of three thousand meters; our biggest was about 500 meters. That was a time were we had more man on a single ship then today. We lost many of our citizens or one may better say Warriors. They nearly defeated us. In the last year of the war one of our best scientists developed a system that allowed us to fight them back out of our galaxy. “
A giant battle was visible on the holo screen several dozen, of the typical halutian ships attacked four huge, pyramidal Spacecrafts, at least they looked that way under the dark blue cove of their force fields. It took about half an hour, but the small ships finally destroyed the big Uleb crafts.
“That was the only way we had to take their ships out, to outnumber them.”
When the holo ended the light flashed up again.
“But their ships aren’t their most dangerous weapon. That is their own body. As you saw they are mainly similar to us, except for the size and some other attributes, so you can think how dangerous they are in close combat. But they have an ability they…prevented… to give us.”
Silence spread over the room
“They are able to take over other beings. They transfer themselves into them and thereby gain control over them. The only way to identify them is by their weight, they have to take that with them…. They are the most dangerous enemy somebody can think of.
And they decided to come back…..”

Nice story you have going there, Icho...I'm going to have to go back and read the other chapters.
We had about 95 thousand...they attacked with about three times that much...They had ships up to a size of three thousand meters |

Hmm.
285,000 ships, ranging in size up to 3000 meters. That's quite a fleet, even if it was in the distant past. Incidentally, Lothmorg was also a GalCiv player in the distant past, and started with a new record after a long "vacation." Coincidence? Were the Uleb really defeated, or did they just come HERE? The mind reels with possibilties...
Obi Wan-unexpecting ending! |

That's one for the old-timers, Donos. "Evil Ray" is Ray the Wanderer's evil twin, manifestation of a split personality, mirror universe doppelganger, or perhaps all three. He makes Vader look quaint and the Emperor look uncommitted. Beware.
All: Thanks for the support - the latest episode was admittedly a bit weak, because A.) the weekend's over and I'm back at work, B.) I've been patching up a bit of storm damage, and C.) the expository section of a story is always problematic for me - fewer chances for humor if the plot has to advance.
Because of the delays, I'm staying with the Jedi until the story arc finishes. Do I get my old job back in the meantime? It's a lot easier to be a starving artist on a Senator's salary!
Indeed.

Qui-Gon snapped up to a sitting position from his rag-doll slumber across the simple meditation cushion on the Jedi council room floor. The hum of his lightsaber quickly bringing his Jedi senses back to full awareness. He smoothly quiets it, and returns it to his belt realizing that the buzzing fly which had disturbed his "slumber" had never stood a chance.
Congratulations little fly. Perhaps the Force will see fit to resurrect you as something less annoying in your next incarnation, Qui-Gon thinks to himself. He looks around in disbelief, realizing he's done the unthinkable. Good-naturedly cursing the Bothan smuggler who had brought it to him, he makes a mental note never again to under estimate that strange alien fermentation called "Jack Daniels".
I can't believe I slept through the anniversary! He looks down the long corridor for signs of life. I left specific instructions for Obi-Wan to wake me in time for the celebrations. Let's see the last thing I remember, I sent him break that Republic credit into singles. Missing the Tatooine belly dancers wasn't the worst of it, though. He began to remember blurry and slurred speeches about some sort of disturbance in the Force. He'd have to remember to ask Obi-Wan about that too.
Obi-Wan! He's back! That's right! His Jedi senses told him there had to be a connection between his return and his recent discovery of Jack Daniels.
In the meantime, he would bring up to the council the subject of immediately and unconditionally re-instating his old Padawan as a full member of the Jedi Council. Such talent is not to be wasted! He brings great balance to the Metaverse. Now if he could only restore balance to my legs!

Brilliant stories all. This is clearly a key point to the ongoing and continuing proliferation of the empire.
That and the occasional key post steal.

Nice that your staying awhile, Obi Wan. Welcome back to the Council!

Ohh and if you want to read the whole Quest of Balance,
I posted it at the Senat hall and the JR site

Wow. Ah am blessed with friends with long memories. With this good a reception, I'm toying with an idea here...
Some time ago, I set up a separate Stardock account, just to test out open nicknames. I assume it's still out there. If'n y'all have no objections, I could petition Wombie for dual citizenship. It would have the fringe benefit of giving me a new story arc with which to experiment. My measly 100K points could stay here to save on the paperwork, and if I ever feel inspired to start actually playing the game again instead of just spending time on the Forums, I'd have a clean slate on the SF account.
So where's this Senate debating room I keep hearing about? Must see what y'all have been talking about for the past 8 months or so.

Experiments with "Force Sobering" - using the Force to break down alcohol in the bloodstream - have been unsuccessful to date. It's a very tricky operation, and since most Jedi who attempt it are drunk at the time, a breakthrough is unlikely. Fiddling with your own bloodstream while drunk is risky at best.
Several cures are known for the condition that you describe, my old Master. Sleep and coffee have generally adequate results. Some recommend another dose of the same stuff that caused your condition in the first place. It might not restore your balance, but it WILL make it much less important!

booo!! gotta wake up this ghost town.
| |
|
Ghost town? It's been busy in here over the last few days, by anyone's standards except the Guardians' - give us a chance to catch up on our sleep...
| |
|
|
|
The Guardian's thread is crazy. I missed a day of reading it and never could get caught up. I haven't been back since. |
|
Yeah. Same here.
| |
|
Sounds like an awesome plan to me. I for one, will be happy to have you back here. |
