Well, Huge-rare-tight clusters have very little planets the AI uses, it gives the Human player an advantage cause we normally colonize 14 and below. thereby its easy to get bigger control, and thereby Influence, that helps.
And the Paladin is one of the four new ship classes in AP, they have an usefull ability (I just don't remenber if its repair or defense assist), Very powerfull

Well, on some of the strategies, people say they always choose Huge rare. I have no clue why. Also, what is a paladin ship, someone mentioned it yet I never seem to find it. Thanks. |
|
you can get an alliance victory for full points (60k) on huge. Rare just makes getting that victory easier, as each race will probably have no more than 6-8 planets tops, most have around 3-4 (i usually grab about 5 or 6 stars, 6-8 planets).

I finally pulled my self together and typed the next part. Enjoy it everybody.
The Story of Procyon I: Chapter 6 Trust and Betrayal
“Sir we have the ships are within visual range.”
“Good. Put them on screen.”
The screen flickered for a moment and then shown with the battle scared shells that were once proud ships of the Procyan military.
“Perform a scan on those ships and the surrounding area. I want to know that we’re not walking into a trap.”
“Sir, scans indicate that that the ships are the SS Trust and the SS Betrayal, and that they were indeed stationed at Starbase 138”
“Good. Can we make contact with either of the ships?”
“Only with the Trust sir. The comm. systems appear to be down on the Betrayal.”
“Alright I want them on the comm. now.”
The screen flickered again and showed a face that I recognized
“Weaver is that you?”
“Yes, it’s nice to see you too but this no time for pleasantries.” Said Weaver in a commanding voice. “We’ve go wounded over here who need attention. Please, get a shuttle over here,” some static began to interfere with the massage quality. “as” (static) “as possib.” The communication was cut short.
“Sir we lost the connection.”
“Ok you heard the man. Get shuttles to those ships now. Take the wounded and the civilians first. Also take any useful supplies. Be quick about it as well, I don’t want to stick around here any longer than we have to.”
The evacuation of the two cruisers was fairly uneventful, it did though make life on our little ship in the middle of now where a lot more crowded. We hardly had a place to put everybody. It was also surprising to see that civilians were the ones piloting the Betrayal. Apparently the real crew was on leave in Starcity and couldn’t make it to the ship. These civilians took control and as many others as they could fit and managed to leave the station. After thing quieted down a bit I decided that I would have a meeting with the commanding officers. It was good to catch up with Weaver. He told me of how he escaped to the Trust and how he took command when the captain was killed. Something struck me odd about him though. He seemed different in away, but I couldn’t put my finger on it though. Maybe it was that scarf with the bump under it. I hadn’t seen it there before. I got a funny feeling about it but I shook it off. I also got familiar with the person who commanded the Betrayal. His name was Valic. He was one of the head scientists in the entire base. After the meeting and Weaver left Valic hung back to speak with me in private.
“Captain I think there is something that I should tell you.”
“What is that Mr. Valic.”
“I really don’t think that you should trust that Weaver person.” He said wearily looking around.
“And why is that?” I asked playing along with him.
“This isn’t a joke captain. Weaver is the one who stranded us here. He overloaded the systems on both our ships and caused them to fail.”
“I’ve known Weaver for a very long time Valic. He would do no such thing. I would trust him with the safety of this entire ship.” I said defensively.
“I did that with our ship. I hope you don’t make the same mistake I did. I just pray that nothing bad happens.” He said as he began to walk away.
I stopped him in his tracks. “What do you mean by that Mr. Valic”
He shrugged me off. “Nothing at all captain. Nothing at all” He said as the disappeared down the end of the hallway.
I’ll have to remember to keep an eye on that one.
After that I decided to have a talk with Weaver about what Valic said.
“Weaver, ya know Mr. Valic says that you sabotaged the systems on the ships.”
“Now why would he say something like that“
“I don’t know. I was hoping that you would.”
“Those systems faulted on themselves. They must have been damaged during the fighting. There was no way I would risk the safety of my own people.”
“That’s what I thought.”
I turned around to leave.
“M.B.M, I would keep an eye on him if I were you.” He said as I walked through the door.
I got a bad feeling again as I left his quarters. It was getting late after my talk and we still had a long way ahead of us so I decided to turn in for the night. Several hours later I was rudely awakened by and in ship communication on the emergency channel. What in the world could this be I thought.
“On screen.”
“It appears Mr. Valic here has tried to kill Weaver.”
“WHAT!?”
“Yes. We got him just in the nick of time too. He had snuck into his room with a stolen laser pistol.”
“Throw him in the brig under heavy guard. “I’ll deal with him in the morning.”
With that the screen flashed off. I then fell down on my bed fell right into a deep sleep. I woke up late next morning. I got ready and headed to the brig for my first task of the day. I needed to have a little chat with Mr. Valic. When I got there I dismissed the guards. “So Mr. Valic, I wouldn’t think you would stoop to something so low as murder.”
“I had to. I just know he was planning something. It was the only way to save the ship.”
“And you know this how?”
“It’s a long story”
I sighed. I couldn’t deal with this right now. I left to recollect my self. I decided to head to the mess hall for a relaxing warm glass of milk. I could use a little relaxation after the past few days. I sat down to my drink when a computerized voice summoned me to the bridge. I guess my milk would have to wait. I headed to the bridge.
“Report.”
“We just got word from the medical officer that the guards outside Valic’s cell have been knocked out and Valic has been poisoned by a dart with some unknown agent. He is in sick bay now.”
“Any word on who …” A rumbling sound interrupted me. “What was that?”
“There has been an unauthorized launch from the shuttle bay, and …”
“What is it man spit it out.”
“Weaver it the pilot.”
“Get him on screen.”
“What are you doing Weaver.”
“Returning to my people. I hope you like the present I left you.”
“Sir we just got a report from the engine room.” Said the comm. officer with a shaky voice. “They found a neutrino bomb and it’s set to explode in an hour.”
Weaver gave an evil chuckle through the comm. “We Kraidens will destroy you all.”
Then the screen shut off.
“Tractor him back.”
“I can’t sir the controls aren’t responding.”
The lights went dim.
“We just lost all main systems.”
That was the last thing we needed right now. We had to disarm the bomb and fast. The neutrino bomb was one of the most complex bombs ever made. They were notoriously small. It was also almost impossible to disarm as well. Only one person had ever done it successfully before. Lucky for us that person was aboard our ship. I headed straight for sick bay.
“How is Valic doing?” I asked the medical officer
“He’s fine for right now, but if we don’t get main power back soon the poison will kill him.”
“How long does he have?”
“30 minutes, tops.”
I walked into where Valic was.
“I to..”
I interrupted him. “I know you told me so but there is no time for that we need you to disarm a neutrino bomb.”
“Bring me to it.”
We began to leave. “Wait, I’m coming with you!’ The medical officer was running toward us. “I want to monitor his vitals.
We all headed to the engine room as fast as we could. Valic was getting weaker with every minute that passed. We entered the room an there was the bomb in all its frightening glory. Valic got to work immediately. He worked with amazing precision but with excruciating slowness. Each minute that passed by was like an hour and with every minute that passed our only hope faded away.
The medic took me aside. “Sir you have to take him out of there. His heart rate has increased and the poison is circulating through his system at an alarming rate.”
“We can’t, he is the only one that can do this.”
“1 minute remaining,” rang a voice from the bomb.
“I can’t do it captain there’s nothing left in me.” Valic said despairingly.
“Of course you can and you know it.”
“No I can’t”
“30 seconds remaining.”
“Well if you’re not going to do it for me do it for the people of Procyon, we’re carrying a cargo that will save the whole planet from the invasion.
He lay there for a moment. He then got up and began to work with a surprising fervor.
“10 seconds remaining.”
He fell back one again.
“Must cut this last wire,” He said meekly.
“Let me do..”
“No,” He said placing his hand on mine.
“3”
He sat up again with an unsteady hand.”
“2”
He put the scissors around the wire.
“1”
He cut the wire.
We all stopped dead waiting for it to explode. The count stopped. We were stunned and overflowing with relief and joy. Main power came back a second later.
“Get him back to sick bay, on the double”
Valic waved me down to where he was lying.
“Do you trust me now,” He whispered. He then fell to the floor.
I turned to the medical officer “Is he?” The officer nodded.
[meanwhile]
The two Jedi ships were making their best speed to the coordinates provided to them by their master. They were talking over a secure channel in their quarters.
“How far away is this planet anyway?”
“A good ways. It lies just outside of the Jedi borders in neutral territory.”
“How could such a backwater planet be in such trouble? There are no other living things out there besides the residents of that planet.”
“None that we know of at least. Anything could be happening out there.”
“Yes that is quite true.”
Just then the familiar sound of the hyperdrive waned away.
“Hold on”
The Jedi switched channels to the bridge. “Why have we come out of hyperspace”
“This is why sir”
The screen switched again showing a picture of what the outside.
“That might just be a problem.”
