Finally, Gerakken steals some good beer in the Jedi thread! (A xx50, but I'll take it.)

Actually, Samurai Ben made a point I would like to explore:

For GalCiv 2 - or anything with a single-player Metaverse, for that matter (Political Machine? The fabled MOM2?) - I believe that a shift away from massive QUANTITIES of submissions should be implemented, in favor of the quest for that one perfect game. The ideal PC game immerses the player in the experience; it shouldn't be a call for an ice-pack on the mouse finger to prolong one's ability to hit "end turn."

The quest for perfection is naught when there is a score cap. And there is a score cap partly due to people cranking the Masoverse. (Submitting maso games as quickly as possible.) But it does lead to an interesting point: if someone dedicates who knows how long to a specific task and achieves what is considered a masterful work even once, is that not worth something? The Meta does not reward perfection, sadly. It rewards mass production. Get that 60K and get it quick, then rinse and repeat. The guy who throws the most 60K games on the pile leads the pack.

Is there a way to fix this? I can't see any good ways. Maybe if there was not a consistent way to beat maso quickly, and it was not so unbalanced in score compared to the other levels, and the score cap was removed. Lots of maybes there. Just makes me think, because I, too, am a sit back and play the game in a liesurely manner type of player.

G, please see my thread in the main Forum - I suggested removing the cap if a system like this were to be implemented. Naturally, it would be for GalCiv2, as it's doubtful we'll see any major changes to the existing Metaverse for a game that's been out over a year.

Hey Icho,
thought I would post in your forum just to move it up in the list

I noticed you are playin huge maso but your scores are in the 56-58K range. Are you playing at least until 2090? If you quit before then you will get less than 60K. Play up till then or a few years past and you should have not problem getting the full 60K

#3260  by Veteran Icho Tolot - 7/18/2004 5:46:42 PM

most my games end between 2192-2198. I think I'm building to little military to get the full pointage, but thats only a guess

#3261  by Veteran Grand_Admiral_Thrawn - 7/18/2004 6:23:59 PM

Icho, you will get slightly better scores if you have more Pure Evil civs. I usually have Yor, Drengin, and one of the two new civs in AP.

Well, I build no military and get 60K alliance victories most all the time. VoT may have a point. I usually have 2 pure evil, 2 pure good, and the rest as neutral - none are chaotic, but could be. I end up have to ally with all 7 most of the time.

Will try the Alignment changing.

btw whats the standard alignment for all AIs?

#3264  by Citizen littlewotts_ - 7/18/2004 7:47:46 PM

Torians - Pure Good
Altarians - Chaotic Good
Arceans - Neutral
Yor - Chaotic Evil
Drengin - Pure Evil
Drath - Pure Evil
Dominion of Korx - Pure Evil

I think it is the other way around, Alterians = Pure good.

Oh, Oh, I've been found out. I kill Yor vicariously by having the others continusualy wage war with them. My most hidden secret is that 50% of the time the Yor give up before the game is over and give themselves to ... yes, to me

#3268  by Citizen _Attila_ - 7/18/2004 9:10:44 PM

Oh, Oh, I've been found out.

Shame on you...

Oh well i dont kill all of them too, as long as they dont exist, its either been occupied by someone else or either they've gave in to someone... i can end up and ally with the rest...

Yikes! Probably takes all the fun out of it when they willingly walk to the scrapheap as opposed to killing them off. At least for a Guardian. But there probably is a good market here in Jedi space for the parts. They rely a lot on droids. They can't seem to function as a society without them.

(Gerakken secretly slips in more of his disguised Yor droids before leaving.)

3 days without a post from a Jedi. Sheesh. Is it time to throw in the towel?

Hopefully not.
