BOOM

I'm glad I could save this one for us

The war is not running very well. Nearly all of us are gone.

I know that Jedi Master Yoda teached us that "A Jedi crave not these things".

But we must not give in and we must not give up. Thus I keep on fighting.

I was ordered to take the commandership of the fleet and I take this duty very serious.

The Jedi Republic is still on the third place and there is no challenger in sight.

Personally I'm on the seventh place. A Metaverse recalc would eventually bring me on the second place. This is due to the fact that there is nobody else active on the first page anymore.

GC2 should arrive soon. Thus I take the opportunity to invite all of you to the big inauguration party on the flagship on Saturday evening. Maybe GC1 is doomed and it is the last party. But sometimes the moribund get another live. Who knows.

BOOM

3702

I have ordered GC2 at plac.com. Unfortunately I will be on vacation when it is expected to come. Thus I will have to wait another week

I'm very curious how much customs duty I have to pay

For those who have preordered or were in the beta, you should be able to create characters on metaverse2. The Republic is up and awaiting you

Hi DarthKryo,

very nice. I will join as soon as I get my package in March.

I would like to become a senator in the Republic. What can I do to archive it?

#3705  by Veteran kryo - 2/20/2006 11:03:59 AM

Well, I imagine that depends on how many current senators transfer from the GC1 version of the Republic. Then we would have elections for any empty spaces (based on the total # of members), as per the Jedi Constitution

That link is dead. Aside from Walldorf2000, is there anyone left who still plays GalCivI? I guess I do not understand this empire thing.

Hi Tregonsee,

welcome to the Empire

The "emprie thing" is about community inside of the empires and rivalry between the empires. But you are right. There is not much community left over here and the former homepage of the Empire "jedi.galciv.org" is not supported anymore.

On GC2 it doesn't look much better for the Jedi. It is on rank 16 and not very active http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=empire&id=26 Link

I guess the dark age already begun for the Jedi

Maybe it's just you and me left over

While I have both GCI and GCII, I am currently having more fun playing GCI. It takes days if not weeks to finish a game (gigantic games tend to do that), but I am rapidly rising in rank. I intend to make it to the top 100 before going to GCII

A Happy New Year to everybody

How many Jedi survived the battles?

Currently I'm accumulating 60k savegames to start the final race this year. I have already enough in the store to go for #5.

#3711  by Citizen Tregonsee - 1/2/2007 6:45:53 AM

I am not sure that 60k games are even possible without having AP. I have started my second Maso level game (first one I gave up early in the beginning), will tell you the score I get on that

#3712  by Citizen Walldorf2000 - 1/2/2007 10:17:29 AM

60k are possible without AP.

With AP a large map is sufficient for military wins, gigantic for alliance wins. Without AP you need a huge map for military wins and gigantic map plus some military action for an alliance win with 60k.

I am trying a rare tight game right now. I found a 26 early on, so I think I have a chance. Anything special about MASO games that I have not encountered so far?

Last game I thought was going to take a while- Altarians were big and bad, but then two strokes of luck- 1) Altarians went evil (never saw that before!) and then the Fundies came and all Altarians became Fundie, which was then easy to kill because they had a small navy

#3714  by Citizen Tregonsee - 1/13/2007 12:30:43 PM

Well, I just finished the game. I lucked out in that the Drengin got split by the Fundies and then right before the Arceans attacked me, I allied with the Altarians. The fact that the Altarians had been previousle been allied to the Arceans did not prevent them from supporting me (go figure).

Anyway, after winning the game by military conquest, I only got 49900 points or so! It was a gigantic game, so I don't know if I can get to 60k without AP. Any suggestions?

#3715  by Citizen Walldorf2000 - 1/13/2007 8:16:25 PM

A gigantic maso game with military win should give you 60k. At last it did it for me

Maybe you don't have an approval of 100% until you population is big enough to reach the 200 per turn growth limit? (Population is a big part of the counting system.)

Or did you disable some of the aliens?

#3716  by Citizen Tregonsee - 1/13/2007 8:40:07 PM

Remember, it was regular GalCiv I, not AP. Game lasted until 2209, my overall approval was 95%+, total population was close to 1 trillion.

Also, what do I need to get to Commodore?

For Commodore you need 20 games i.e. one more in the Metaverse. Details can be found here http://www.galciv1.com/forum.asp?id=136169&BID=GF&page=1#204658 Link in post #3

And yes, my first 60k games were without AP.

#3719  by Citizen Tregonsee - 1/15/2007 5:36:08 PM

OK, then I need to learn how to get a 60k game in GalCiv I. I will be starting another gigantic MASO game in the next day or so. It would be helpful to understand how scoring is done. However, I have checked the forums, and aside from reading about aging scores, and the fact that a military victory gives more points, I have not seen anything definitive about how scoring a game is done.

Now in this latest game, although MASO, it did not have all opponents at the brightest (Incredible?) level. Does that make a difference?

#3720  by Citizen Walldorf2000 - 1/16/2007 4:28:30 AM

All we know we have figured out by trial and error and some spoilers from Brad.

The difficulty level is definitely part of the scoring. I assume that it makes a difference even the overall score is MASO, but I don't know.

I know that population compared with the overall population is a big part of the system, with a decreasing effect over time. More opponents lead to a higher score. More population in the first years lead to a higher score. This is why 100% approval at the beginning is important.

Another test I made is destroying ships. I finished the same game two times in the same month. One time I simply invaded the AI planets, the second time I additionally destroyed all ships in range. This made a big difference for me.

#3721  by Citizen Walldorf2000 - 1/16/2007 4:41:47 AM

And yes, 100% is 100% and not 95%. The population growth doubles at 100% until you reach the cap. Later >=56% per planet is enough.

#3722  by Citizen Tregonsee - 1/16/2007 11:24:36 AM

Right, I know about the pop increase for 100% per planet, I was at 100% for all planets with the exception of a couple of new accessions (took them over by culture or invasion the turn before...

I am back on active duty Navy, (wish my GalCiv rank was my real rank!) and will not be able to post games for a while. Can you save a game on the last turn, start another game, save it on the last turn, and then upload them to the Metaverse all at once when I get a working internet connection?

In Hong Kong right now...

#3724  by Citizen Walldorf2000 - 2/5/2007 5:18:44 AM

In fact you can simply keep the EndGame.sav

To keep them you could simply rename them.

Once you are back and have access to the Internet you can load and submit one after the other.

We had others here from the Navy and they submitted seldom but always a bunch of games in a short term

That's not very good for your Metaverse score since you should submit at last every 30 days, but better than not submitting at all. Maybe you could ask someone in your family or a friend to do it for you. You could even zip the files and send them via Email in case you have access.

I'm collecting EngGames by myself for many month now. I can't play more than two or three games a week (and this is a very hard limit, ask my family ). Thus I submit only one an collect all the others until I got enough for my final race.

Submitting only one per week still pushed me from the 6th place to the 8th place. But now I'm back on 7th place and 6th is in range in a short term.

3rd place would be possible when I would collect for another one and a half year We will see.

A recalculation of the Metaverse would bring me on the 1st place. I could instantaneously submit enough games But I doubt that Stardock will ever invest something in GC 1 again.
