Chapter 1: The first encounter
Reading an old log of mine, I was preparing for my travel, or better let’s call it: quest.
In front of my armoury a stood, wile reading.
[Beginning log]
Computer log of the Halut 1, Icho Tolot in command, only crew man
Star date: 2.5.49552 Halut standard
Position: close to the galactic halo, 7438 light-years from Halut
“I’m en route to the planet H4PX1-V for an adventure in the jungles of this L-class planet, a good place for an adventure this world has showed to be in all the years. The sensors have picked up some strange signals around 14.6 light-years away. I have ordered the helmsmen the plot an intercept course, so we can check it out.”
Addendum:
“Closing in the signals showed to be several of ships in combat, closer investigations showed that this was something like a pirate raid, a dozen heavily armed ships fighting against what appear to be two heavily armed colony ships, the sheer number of pirates is slowly overwhelming them”
I opened channel to the colony ships, fearing for their safety;
“This is the Halut 1, you are badly damaged and under attack, do you require assistance”, on the main viewer I could see that both ships were badly damaged.
Over the comm. came the reply “This is the SS Harelas; we are under attack by pirate ships. We don’t know why they are attacking us, we are a colony ship we cannot survive against warships without help, our armour is buckling under the strain, please help us, we can not hold them off for much longer”. Heavy though the armour on the colony ships was, it was now ripped open in several places.
“I will respond at once. And I’ll contact you again afterwards. Halut 1, out.”
I rose the shields up, activated the guns and increasing to the attack speed I needed to get to them quickly.
Within a minute I was in range and opened fire on the strange ships that attacked the Harelas. I was able to take three of these big ships out with my intervall-cannons before they even noticed what happened. Then they started to counterattack. Their ships were big and had impressive firepower, I could not allow more then four of them to concentrate fire on the same spot of my paratron-force-field, but their defences and manoeuvrability were poor. Without any force-fields they had no chance to withstand a single short hit with an intervall-cannon. Their ships crumbled to dust instantly, without a sign of an explosion, as usually.
In a furious combat they lost nearly all their ships (ten of twelve) before they decided to run off. The fight lasted only eight minutes, and my blood was boiling in excitement of the battle.
So I opened a com-channel to the Harelas again “Halut 1 calling the Harelas, come in, please.”, “This is the Harelas, you saved our lives we could not have taken much more. By the way what did you do to them; we saw their ships just fall apart?”, “Well that’s the way the weapons of my ship work, Hahahahahah.” I replied.
My halutian laughter thundered thru the line, and I saw their hands hand rising to their ears in a rush movement, too loud for these small humanoids.
“Wow you send a loud signal. We thank you for your help again. So are continuing our path to Tatooine then.”, “Have a good trip then Captain. Halut 1, End.”
So we went on each of our paths.
[End log file]
More then a thousand years have passed since then, and I remember every bit of this event.
The doors of my armoury opened and silently my old fellow and I got in. No word was spoken, as usual.
I fetched myself the same combat suit I wore those days. A heavy multi functional blaster and all the small goodies one may need while en rout in this galaxy.
We did the tests of my gear and of cause my body functions (changing the heart used, crystallizing body structure.
For this all being ritual it took several hours, before I got out to the field were my ship waited for its inspection.
Inspecting my 120m ship took only about half an hour. I quickly got my launch permission and the ship took of, for bringing me to one of the biggest adventures in halutian history, as my fellow Taik said once.
Halut became a small spot on the rear screen, while my ship increased his speed to 0,95c and jumped into linear-space, as calculate.
