Hi Guys, I just don't have the enthusiasm for the game any more and the forums have gotten a lot quieter recently, so I think it's time to retire from Gal Civ..Good luck to everybody and I'm sure I'll be keeping in touch with the Australian SFers as well as some others.. It's been a pleasure over the months being a part of this community...Cheers

Well-toothed one,
thank you for your participation, contribution, and game playing within the metaverse. I look forward to continued communication, red wine, and laughs in The Smacked Penguin.
Good eating on your travels!

Somebody told me a certain sea-going predator was leaving. Man, it's not going to be the same around here. But have fun doing some other things and don't be a stranger! You'll always be welcome at the Guardians' Grog for a drink and a joke.

We'll leave a light on for ya.

Here's a Guardian's Corvette we uh "salvaged for ya" Jaws....To exercise your Jaws on. Come visit us on Tortuga once in awhile.

I wish to say from the Diplomats, and indeed from everyone here that we will miss you, and hope you will continue to drop in here from time to time. I hope your future exploits will be great, and if you find another great game, you will tell us so we can come after you there as well! Goodluck and may your luck forever hold!

Well I lost one of my contraparts, you will be missed Jaws, things are kind of quiet because almost everyone is involved in the Clone Wars, but you always will be welcome to comeback and scold me once in a while, when I step out of the line.

Now I can start spamming threads again and driving people nuts and flaming wars and, nahhhhhhhhhhh without Jaws here ain't going to be the same, so now that I am a pirate, I don't have to flame, I will let my cannons do the talking.

Hey Jaws if you get bored in the island remember that there is a pirate ship anchored waiting for you!!!

I'm been lurking around. I'm also going into retirement though I may be back out if AP gets me interested again... the standard game is feeling too standard after 9 months - but it's a testament to Stardock and to all of you that I stayed interested as long as I did.

I really enjoyed corresponding with all of you... and I will keep in touch with the Special Forces. One of these days, I'm going to make it to Melbourne and look you guys up -- that's a threat!

Best of luck to all of you.... hopefully, we'll see each other in other games (Gal Civ 2?).

Hmmm...two retirements...

Cypher, we'll hate to see you go. But if the game isn't any fun anymore, it's certainly time to find something that is fun.

I hope that everyone doesn't take Cypher's and Jaws' retirements as a sign that the Metaverse is dying. These two guys have been around a very long time and it's just time to move on. There are many new players coming in and more will be on the way when AP goes public. Then look for more when GalCiv 2 comes out and people get interested in seeing where the story started. By no means should anyone think that there's any slowdown around here. If you have any questions about that, just look at the Galactic Forum and see how many newbies are asking questions! Fact is, since we're not recruiting anybody anymore, the empires are slowing down.

Which brings me to my point. People want to be asked to join an empire. They don't just look at a post in a recruitment thread and decide they want to join an empire. They want to be wanted.

The recruitment rules may make a few people happy but I think we need to look at this subject again. We can't sit idly by as the current trend continues.

Well I got chewed up when I oppose to stop the recruiting and now we see the consequences, it was more active around here when you could go to other threads and start asking people to join your empire, but the will of few people took control over everything under the name SPAM, do you all remember how I was bashed for spamming???

Now, don't take my comments the wrong way. The still needs to be some limits on recruiting. My point is that instead of everyone completely restricting their recruiting, we need to add a blurb at the bottom of our posts in the Galactic Forum (which is allowed but nobody does!). People just took the recruiting restrictions way too far and instead of limiting recruiting, it effectively killed it.

I don't want to go back to a noob posting a question and 50 ppl inviting them to join their empire! I just want to see somebody answer the question and at least offer membership to them!!!!

It's true. That's how I originally joined the Fellowship. Ray asked me.

Then we're agreed. G.R.O.S.S. members will offer the noobs membership and the rest of the 50 people can stop posting.

The arachnopets will fall before the might of my sticky tongue and so will you haaaahaahaaahaaahaaaa!!!!!!!
