ROADKILL OF THREADZILLA

Hmm, just a minute I have been that roadkill!!

#1226  by Citizen KitWarrior - 9/9/2004 2:08:13 PM

The hot summer breeze sweeps through Threadzilla's scales as the oversized, candy red dreadnaught zips along the coast.

*BUMP!*

Kitwarrior is stirred from his dreamy hacienda. "What was that?"

"Grrr RRROWRRRrrr...," TZ responds lazily.

Hegetaga glances in the side view mirror while KW adjusts his shades. Squinting into the mirror, HT announces, “looks like you flattened some kind of skunk, TZ.”

“Nah...” KW leans his head back and gazes at the clouds. “I see feathers coming off the hood. Must have been some bird.” He tilts his head and frowns. “Looks like rain clouds. Let’s put the top up.”

“Rrrrowrrrrrr…” TZ flips the switch and the sky folds away...

2 months to the US election! Anybody playing Political Machine? I'm getting pretty depressed by both caimpaigns claims that "My failed presidency will do less damage than the other guy's." After more than 200 years of democracy in America, these two are the best we could do?

Why can't we have visionary politicans like the Aussies where all three parties are interested in how fast and how much money they can save by using open source software.

The really sad thing is that Americans are incapable of having as nuanced positions on really important things like health care or starting wars for fun and profit.

Anyone find any new games? I'm thinking I might start playing something again this winter...

For my last trick, I'll confess something that will probably get me kicked out of the special forces. Despite the fact that my house came with a small wine cellar, by wife and I have become hooked on boxed wines. By keeping a box in the fridge, we typically have a glass a day. This wouldn't be enough for us to open a bottle for - but it is nice ritual for when both girls are finally in bed. I'm such a beer snob, but now I'm just like those guys who only drink Bud Light or Labatts Blue.

Cheers!

Hiya Cypher!

We're having an election too - and we're knee deep in the usual rubbish that comes with it at the moment. The latest is that our Treasury Dept (which is required to publically report on the state of the national accounts prior to an election) is reporting a maaasive surplus - generated by massive taxes - so now we're all waiting to see what yummy election spending promises our candidates come up with...which will of course will somehow become impossible to fulfill after they're elected...

[In best Homer Simpson voice] "Nuanced, eh?"

I doubt there is a politician ALIVE who understands this word applied to public policy...

Is Political Machine any good? I've just got my broadband internet connected at home - wondering whether to get it....

Oh, and the boxed wine thing? As long as you're DRINKING alcohol, you're always welcome here... Actually, I have a worse problem - Mrs. Wombat is no great drinker, so it's just me...I rely on a recorking the bottle...oh the shame...hope Mrs. Pax and the Pax Platoon are doing well!

Hey - and the Wombats (minus children) are going on a one week trip to Japan soon (special birthday present for Mrs. Wombat) - Hurls has already given me great advice from a recent visit. We've just got two nights in Tokyo and then the bullet train to Kyoto for four nights. Any "must sees" or other advice gratefully received!!

Cheers everybody!!

Weyr, it's a loooooong way to anywhere from Australia! Japan is one of our easier stops - about 10 hours flight time; Europe and North America are around 24 hours flight time....

That's true. Back in 1970, after I got my PhD my wife and I took a trip around the world and we wanted to fly down to Australia from HongKong, but could not affort the flight. It was a long way and would increase our tickets by 25%, which at that time was $1200 for an around the world ticket.

Oooooo! I got something you must see! The Narita International Airport. Because you're flying in to the Tokyo area from abroad, you must land at that airport. So... you must see it. Glad I could help! Say hi to the airport employees for me. They all know me by now.

Congrats! Welcome back to the party! Well, the party's been a bit quiet lately... but whenever we're here, we always have a drink for absent friends.

Lots of things have happened since january .

I would say that the more important is the release of AP which allows 60K victory with different settings. Gigantic maso military is no longer the only option to score 60K with AP 1.51. Alliance victory in january 2190 is now a viable way to score 60K. And multiple times in a day if some has enough free time

BTW, since your score have been recalculated (you have now 433K), you shouldn't experience a big drop when submitting new games.

And some tweaks has been made since Galciv 1.13. The most important are linked with starbases: the influence bonus is no longer multiplied when having multiple starbases in the same sector. And if money is needed to create/enhance a starbase, you must have it in your treasury.

As it happens I released a news update yesterday called the Metatverse RAG. Check it out here http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GE&id=131890#188568 Link

Hi, remember me?

Don't worry, we wouldn't forget you!

Another thing that seems to have happened is that everyone in the Special Forces has retired from playing GalCiv. Surprising how many people there are on this page, considering.

#1246  by Veteran Evil Roy - 9/17/2004 8:43:15 PM

oh and the ANZACs retired on ANZAC Day in the Number 1 spot...

(the number 1 bit was metaverse charity)

Hi Ginata!! Congrats on Liam's arrival - hope you, bub and the rest of the family are doing well! Thanks for taking the time to stop by - as you can see, you're missed, and not least by your Emperor! If I remember rightly, contributing a new Metaverse member grants you an automatic 2 million point bonus, so you're ack at the top!

CONGRATS!!!

Thanks for the well wishes folks . . . Matt, Evil, Wombat, Newfy, Phoenix um (I'm sure I knew you in a previous incarnation? didn't I?), Icho, Quack and Kit.

A big X and O to you all!

Motherhood is fun, I don't need sleep, really it's true . . .

Um, I have to admit ehrm . . . I have utterly forgoten how to play galciv! Its a first person shooter upper sci-fi X-box game based on Tolkien, right? Oh dear . . . whats this CD for? Music?

I recall there being like this giant chicken, Mmm chicken . . . um, sorry I digress. And also there was some fella with an ear-ring and tatoo who knew a secret about something important . . . perhaps?

Oh and yes there were these guys called EBZMatrix and Poitus (or something similar) and lots of Pirates, yes I definately remember the Pirates.

In my mind I also strangely recall charecters from the Lord of the Rings movies often appearing in the game with little explaination . . .

Was it all just a crazy dream?
