Next stop Individual Top 100! I currently only need <7K Mpts. As far as the Clone War, I think our alliance will have to get satisfaction from participation rather than winning. Too many obsessed power gamers in some of the other alliances. Splitting time between GalCiv and DHABBing doesn't allow me to post too many scores. I'm having fun and that's what truly counts here and elsewhere.

I've updated the detailed tally of *all* of the scores from the Clone War, sorted by Empire and Empire member, for all five alliances. This tally shows that there are even some new players joining since yesterday. From now on, no further announcements will be made when this tally is updated. However, the intention is to do an update once a day, in the late afternoon or evening.

Aldar, I just went to our empire's website. I just noticed that Magnum Force is not listed under the 100K header. Just thought I'd remind you to add him to list.

I will correct this tonight. I think the DHABB is affecting my memory.

All hail Senator Magnum Force.

Congrats Magnum.

Thanks! After extended DHABBing, I may get around to submitting at least one game (if not my usual two) for March. The new beta of Altarian Prophecy is getting me interested...

Well I just won my first game (Maso/Large)of AP. So far I enjoyed it.
With 7 majors and 3 minors, I boosted diplomacy with party and racial picks; took influence pick as well as moral pick and then grabbed as many empire wide influence boosting techs and projects as possible because of the new influence calculations.

The influence resources are critical now because some of the starbase influence modules cost money to build while mining modules are all free.

My starbase upgrade strategy was to build trade, defense, and production modules. As I got surplus money I added influence modules.
I'm not sure whether military modules are cost effective especially if you can grab a military resource.

Lastly I defended influence and military resources with large defense forces.

That and the fact that they are added together before they are multiplied.

I rarely add defensive mods. Just product, trade and influence. Of course some mil mods... like the TS mods.

Lastly I defended influence and military resources with large defense forces

Hummm... I don't usually bother... just keep you friends close and your enemies closer.

Anyway good job on your first maso win.

Actually it was my first AP game, not my first maso win, but thanks for the congratulations anyway.

I defended the influence and military resources heavily because they were literally right on the war front in the main invasion corridors. Large defense forces can become potent strike forces.

Influence attacks are actually easier now, even though your multiple starbases in nearby sector don't multiply influence because the AI's multiple starbases in a sector don't defend as well either. The key factor now is overall empire-wide influence bonuses.

I have found this to be true as well. I don't think I would have won any of my AP games with out getting a few of them.

#122  by Citizen Bam_Bam - 3/15/2004 3:27:15 PM

Influence resources teameed with influence wonders have always been powerful. Heck we won a maso game in RBGC3 by culture with only 5 or 6 culture starbases (none with party palaces). I suspect we would have won without them, but we had to do something with all those constructors...

I agree that 5 or 6 culture starbases that are set in keystone sectors are all one really needs now to win on a large map. I think I only built one or two up to a 193% culture boost in my last game. But then I usually go for alliance wins because I get bored going for conquest wins. I'd rather end a game early for less MPTS and face a new challenge of new random map.

BTW, what do you think about the campaign in AP?

I started it, played first two scenarios and it seems more like a tutorial game to me. Does it get harder?

Also it seems the save and load feature needs major work to me. One shouldn't have to search for your saves. I'm thinking I might wait to play until the campaign portions are polished some more.
