Indeed, maso is not necessary at all, play to have fun. We'll cheer you on.

Maso will drive you mad. Mad, I say! OK, maybe not. But it can raise one's blood pressure substantially. I'll just stick to my crip games with one or two incredible opponents.

As for real live farmers, it has been long since one popped in before now. Why, us squatters from other empires had already carved up the back 40 (well, maybe several back forties worth) and appropriated the moonshine storage silos. The Jedi stole most of the tractors long ago, a few wily Diplomats have been trying to find loopholes in Intergalactic Salvage Law to legally take possession of some of the remaining missiles, there's rumor of a giant bat living in one of the underground missile silo complexes, an undead moose is roaming loose looking for stragglers to snack on, and then there is this sneaky Spymaster watching everything and everyone. Lots of crazy things been happening here while the farmers been gone. Bring some of them back for us, will ya?

Crazy? Sounds insane, to me. An undead moose? How do you get rid of something like that? *sighs and gets to work rebuilding the empire* Looks like I do have my work cut out for me. Maybe I should tackle the giant bat first. And I do hope my SOS Signals are getting through. . .

Never fear Fleetlord. There are a few lurking in the weeds. Welcome back and enjoy the new release.

Wow! Two MWC'ers posting in a row! I don't think I've ever seen that!

Welcome back to the Metaverse!

Say not seen for a long time

Unfortunately real life has been interfering with me left and right. I haven't had time to play *any* games.

I had some time to get a couple of games in today. Unfortunately I'm having back surgery next week, so after that I won't be able to sit at my computer for a couple months. For now, I can play a little bit, as long as I don't sit for too long.

Back surgery... I hope everything goes well with that. That cannot be fun. ><

I tried to submit a game, but it screwed up. I'm doing another one, though, but I'm also building a campaign so I'll probably take forever to get it up...

...*shoots the giant bat* Fried bat for dinner!

I have to have a diskectomy for a really big herniated disc. I had the same surgery 3 years ago on a different disk, so at least I know what to look forward to recovery wise. I'm just looking forward to having the massive pain go away. Stupid pain.

Hope you have a quick recovery, Jordan.

The sun must finally be shining in Iowa, because here I am playing GalCiv again!

I'll be posting games when I can. Cheers all!

I'm not sure if there's much point in submitting games any more unless you can play 18 60,000+ Maso games a day. I submitted several around 50000 and my rank actually went down, so that's just pointless.

its becaus of your long absense, play some more and they will go up again

Wow, we got farmers again! Yay! Jordan, I wish you a speedy recovery. And you don't need to submit a lot of maso games to keep up. They just changed the aging formulas so they are a little harsher than us old ones in the Meta are used to. As Icho said, it will correct itself if you can throw a couple of games on the pile and then keep throwing one on a month at least. Sure, that rate will not keep one in the top page of the Masoverse, but you should not lose ground that way either.

I just won my first military conquest victory. It isn't that high a score, but then, I had to rush to win militarily at the end. I forgot to turn off the cultural victory, so I was on the verge of winning through culture, too. And hey, I broke into the top 1000 now, which is sorta decent considering the number of people in the Metaverse [or am I just kidding myself here?]. Time to start playing Normal games, then.

Very true. There are about 4300 on in the meta. Congrats to you!

How do the aging formulas work now? I really don't get how my rank went down...

I have the weekend to play a few more games. After surgery next week I'll be away for a couple months.

Peace Phoenix really should answer this. But, in short, your games go into a sliding window that is 30 days long. Each window contributes to your score by averaging the games in the window. After some period of time, the window widens to a 70 day window. Eventually an individual score dropps to a small percentage of the game score. All these changes, averages, etc. add up to determine you Meta score. So, if you play evenly, you will see no big jumps. If you play sporatcally, you will see both big jumps and big losses, depending how how the games move between the windows.

Sorry, but this doesn't even compare to what PP can tell you.

Oh well, I guess it doesn't really matter, it just seemed odd. I just wish they had implemented the 'previous top 25' medals before I dropped out of the top 25.

Maybe Dream Weaver can get you that medal. Ask him.

Yes, my brain was somewhere else. I wonder if damoose has changed what he is snacking on. I seem to be light headed recently

I think I have been somewhat light headed myself...

So what's the secret to people winning maso alliance games in an hour? Do they just make all the alignments the same as them so that everyone automatically likes them? I don't have a difficult time getting alliance victories on maso, but I sure can't do it in an hour! There's always someone who doesn't worship me, usually those of opposite alignment to me. Plus, I spend so much time wheeling and dealing in the diplo screens, that that alone would make it difficult for me to do anything in under an hour!

I've also noticed culture bombing seems a bit harder in the newer release, besides having to pay for the modules (that's not generally an issue with me because by that point in the game I have tons of money anyway). It does seem that it's harder to boost your influence though, even with party palaces. Did they change that or am I just smoking something?
