Ugh. Tried to play a game on my notebook - which used to be the fastest computer I had (1 Ghz). But after playing on my "new" gaming system (2.8 Ghz) this felt like a dog. I had hoped to get another one in before today but it is going a bit slower.

I wanted to get a notebook for a long time. Dell is finally coming out with a notebook where you can update the video cards in them. That was the problem with notebooks... at least to me. New video cards come out every 6 months and there was no way to put a new one in. My friend had an Alienware one that was awesome. Ran games just like a desktop.

Agreed, the video card really is the weakest link for notebook being a real viable gaming platform. To start out with, it is a scaled back version of what is currently available on the market.

I just installed Neverwinter Nights the other night and it really challenges what I have installed in this IBM.

Granted, not a large percentage of "gamers" are going to have a notebook as a gaming platform, but I think there would be enough interest in one as a market niche. There would (and probably should) be a premium price associated with it, just like with hardcore gaming units are compared to "consumer" models.

Nope, still here. Just a little busy at work these last few days. I've got a deadline breathing down my neck. An elementary school which I am designing is due out to bid in two weeks. Still, I do hope to get a game in this weekend. I was gaining on Kasual but now I will be hard pressed to catch him.
What is this of Clone War alliances?? I would like to get this alliance gaming going but how shall we go about it??

My leave of absence is still in effect. Rough days at work, and lots of stuff to do outside of work...My Son, Joshua was diagnosed with cancer on the 30th of January. We've been in and out of the hospital doing chemo and what not. It's pretty tough having to watch a 3yr old go through this, but after the long wait for a heart transplant back in '02, it's not so bad.

My heart goes after you Idle, it is tough to see your son in such condition, my prayers will go after you and I will ask my church to pray for your son's recovery.

Ohh. Sorry to hear that Idle. My heart goes out to you and your family.

Right now, anomalous - it is blatantly disregarding them. I am going to try to fix that and the foreign language difficulties this coming weekend.

kas: did you get my email back to you re the Clone War scoring? I'm not hassling - just want to make sure it got there!

#165  by Veteran Grand_Admiral_Thrawn - 2/19/2004 8:29:08 AM

Thanks for the response kasual. Just curious, because the scores seemed a little low for some people, as they should if it is discarding them.

Wombie: got it! I don't see any problems with it. Once the alliances are set it should be pretty straightforward.

It seems we can count on the Euro's but I am still looking for a third. Gforce suggested Anzac or perhaps Aldar.

I know they are looking.

Choose Your Own Adventure Booze Raid

~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~

BOOM!!! Intruder alarms blare as you pick yourself off the deck. Space pirates have boarded your vessel and you know exactly where they’re headed - to the booze! Pushing your way past several horses and cows, you hear laser blasts tearing through the corridors ahead. You vault over a flock of panicked chickens and fire a barrage of blind shots. Much to your chagrin you realize the marauders have gone the opposite direction. As you turn to face the enemy, a heap of your own grain plummets onto your head. These crafty raiders have you trapped. What will you do?

a) It’s time to surrender. No sense in losing your life over a few crates of beer. Go to post #32 in the “Empires so tiny there not even ranked” thread.

b) Humor is great way to break the ice. You begin with “a priest, a rabbi, and a pirate walk into a bar...” Go to post #61 in the NEW AND FIRST ALLIANCE TOURNAMENT thread.

c) Maybe you can inspire your crew if you start humming a John Mellencamp tune. Go to post #51 in the “Forget about those sissy empires!” thread.
