Thanks!

After reviewing the game, I realized I made a poor strategic decision early on in the game. They were the second largest by planet count behind me. I should have punced them as soon as I had dreads and not have taken out the Drengin first. Oh well, live and learn...

Welcome Lothmorg

Thanks! Glad to be here.

The Fellowship was drifting without the steady hand of Ray the Wanderer to guide everyone to victory. If you are going to leave the Fellowship, what better place to come than here?

I must take a little break before I start my next push to get in the top 25. The wife is already a little p!ssed at me for spending all my waking moments playing GC, but she also knows how I get into one of my "moods".

It won't be long before we're knocking on SF's door...

Greldon: How do you like 1.19? I don't mind the starbase costs myself. I find it adds a bit more strategy to the way I used to play. No more spamming with starbases unless you have loads of cash.

Yup. I just had a break... although I will say the amount of time she sees me playing has made it easier to convince her that I really, really need AP and drengin.net I use a deception tactic when I play. I play for awhile, quit and go do something with her. Then I sneak back and play for awhile more. Rinse and repeat.

I've reverted to the invasion/TS combo until I get a handle on this logistics thing. You're right about it not being a problem if you have plenty of BCs. You're also right about it adding more strategizing to the process. Overall I like it, but I can't wait for AP to be released to those who pre-ordered (me)

Me too. I am going for the drengin upgrade but have waited until AP is ready to stretch out the time a bit Two more races to beat up on

On a side note: I haven't had a CTD in several weeks, and only one instance where my machine locked up causing a re-boot. That's been nice!

I've been thinking about it, but I'm not sure I'm interested in the other games......perhaps I should investigate further.

Are you playing 1.19?? Because ive had so many CTD that i can hardly play for 5 minutes without one.

I am not so sure I am either but when I looked at the cost of the upgrade versus the AP price I decided to kick in the extra. And you never know, I may want to try one of them out sometime

Hello everyone, I see you have all (almost) relocated here?
I guess there is a limit to how much pipeweed one can smoke But it's no fun smoking alone over there ...

Terl, I got your email. Since work is special-boring today, you already have email...

So far, no problems with 1.19, even though I'm taking a hell of a beating (a 3 way evil-demonic-evenworsethanthat alliance, against me last saintly left). The minors disappeared right away, and it seemed to me they build no TG and no wonders. I know that was made so in the latest AP, but I'm not sure for 1.19. Maybe they all were just destroied in the start of the game (first time I see this, no one left to trade with ). Has anyone noticed if they build something?

And AP is really good. The new races are real fun to play with, and the starbases cost, well, that requires some hard choices to be made...

Overall, I think the game is only getting better

I am and have not had a problem at all. The only CTD I ever had was with 1.13 but they fixed that quickly (the UP issue). That is so odd, I played for 2 and a half hours straight and had no problems at all.

The only issue I found was not being able to overwrite an old 1.13 save which I just deleted and made a new save file.

Have you checked that debug.err file CariElf mentions? Maybe you should send it to her if it has anything odd...

Agreed, that one does look interesting. I thought the Corporate Machine might be also, but wither way, it will be hard to tear me away from GalCiv at this point.

Agreed. Only Rome Total War will make me really share my time. But that's several months away...

Time to go home. I'll catch up with you guys later, if the guardian at the entrance let me in

#267  by Citizen Greldon - 2/16/2004 11:34:27 AM

I'm playing my second 1.19 game and still no problems.
Terl is correct....I also couldn't overwrite a 1.13 save (it saved the last 1.13 game), but deleted that save and then no problem.

That's the truth.....I've got 6 or 7 Xbox games sitting on the shelf unopened, including KotOR! I haven't played Morrowind in months and I really like that game....have Tribunal and Bloodmoon expansions that I haven't played. Oh such a dilemma!

I am not exactly sure. You could just poke around the GalCiv folder. I think it would be easy to find. Just open it with notepad. I saw CariElf mention it before and I noticed in the changelist that it was added.

[Edit]Looks like it mostly for submission problems. You might want to check the bug thread for 1.19 and see if there are other CTD complaints.

Naqmir>> Looks like others are having CTD problems too as I checked the bug report thread.

Yea i just submitted my problem in the thread so maybe someone there will know what to do. I was hardly able to get through my last game because of CTDs.

Have you noticed something in particular causing the CTDs, or is it several different things?
