Im really keen on taking out the defiant class... I think I will just move up from cakewalk eventually through to normal, that way Im still in the defiant class but having a harder game. Although I think Im ready for challeging.
As for the alignment shift....I wish I could have pwerttyy pure good smiley and a very evil one at the same time

Nice little bomb. I should have finished my game hours ago, but the Torians won't defect, they won't hand over their culture bases, and I am up to like 10 of them. NO DEFECTIONS! GRRR! 
Oh, I didn't have to even attack the Yor. They looked at me and surrendered. I wish they hadn't. I guess part of it was defection of half of their worlds to me...

I was still in the neutrality band, but militarily weak and they decided I was easy pickings.
Not sure how they were managing to off my battleships with frigates though  Checked the numbers and their frigates had 14 attack and 10 defense when they were in my sectors??? I guess it gets a bit harder beyond 'painful'
