Thanks for the tip - I guess I'm about 30 years behind the times. Seems that my compulsive "build and research everything" nature that has dogged me from the days of the first Civilization game needs to be revised.

I just get downhearted when I see "Battleships - 24 months" in the research screen and think "ooh, Stock Markets and Stadiums would be useful on every planet", not to mention teleporters and those nice big Nano-mining rigs for my resource starbases

Seems that my compulsive "build and research everything"

I used to do that too! Now I only research/build what I need in the early and middle game. Use constructor fleets (as many fleets as possible) to explore! In other words, start setting up the end as soon as possible!

You are not dreaming. I looked at it a couple times thinking as you did.

Always when the ears hurt. I do not miss it

I don't blame her though, I had an ear infection last winter and I will vouch that they indeed hurt---a lot too!
