My dad just bought an 8" Schmidt-Cassegrian from Celestron. It's still pretty good viewing here even though there is some light pollution. If I'm absent from the 'night shift', I'm usually out doing some viewing.

We got lucky with the ring nebula this past summer. Around here, it appears quite faint, but we were able to see the star in the middle of it that night. It was amazing. The transperancy was phenomenal.
