Doesn't help them in the end because they'll still sell me transports full of troops

Isn't this a fun tactic?

Go Guardians!!!! Congratulations!!!!

Thank you, Renegade!

yet we all had fun and made the Yor pay for their insolence

The most important things in life!

one million is getting pretty close!

Indeed!

It appears it's going to be a rather busy work day. I hope to pop in as often as I can. Have a great day, Guardians (and everybody else!)

Good morning, Guardians!

Busy day for me too. I'll be working on the guide and doing some real work too. I'll check in when I can.

I only have a 1K points lead over Jaxom this morning.
Oops..not any more, he passed me again! This scoring system is really starting to pi$$ me off! It's not right that I have to play 3 games to every one he plays...It's not fair!

Galactic Guardians News Special Report

The final results from the election for the Guardian Conclave seat have been gathered. The votes were as follows:

Lothmorg the Black: 6 votes
Terl : 5 votes

Emperor Theoden is scheduled to have a press conference...oh, wait...here he comes! Theoden is stepping up to the podium right now, let's listen.

"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! It certainly has been an exciting weekend, with the Guardians now sitting in fifth place and gathering our strength to challenge the Jedi Republic for fourth. I'd like to say thank you to all of our Guardians for their participation and dedication to this empire!"

"As many of you know, the Guardians have been conducting an election for a seat in the Guardian Conclave, which is the name of our Imperial Senate. Greldon was elected to be our first Guardian Knight some time ago and has served the Guardians very well. As our membership grows, however, so does our Conclave. And indeed, our empire has grown by leaps and bounds!"

"It was originally my intention to come to you and announce the election of Lothmorg the Black as our newest Guardian Knight, but after much thought, I have decided to make an executive decision. The election was as close as it could ever be and both candidates were extremely popular and worthy. It is therefore my decision, as Emperor of the Guardians, that both candidates be elected to the Conclave!"

"Please welcome our newest members of the Conclave, Guardian Knight Lothmorg the Black and Guardian Knight Terl! Their new titles have been given to them on the Guardians' website at this http://guardians.galciv.org/roster.html Link "

"Thank you one and all for your support, dedication and participation in the greatest empire in the Metaverse!"

Seriously, I’m beginning to wonder if it’s worth it. I get penalized for play more games, but I have to play more games just to keep up. Jaxom has played 4 games since Friday, while I’ve played seven games, yet he still passed me. This isn’t fun! I guess I have to decide whether or not I want to continue doing this.

Sorry for the rant, but I felt like I had to say something.

Congratulations to Lothmorg and Terl!!

You both deserved it!

A wise decision, Theoden.

Greldon, I agree the scoring system is wacky. It is crazy that they designed this place to not particularly reward those players who play their hearts out.

If it's not fun, then something is wrong. I know you want to get to number one, and I have no doubt that you'll be there, but if you get burned out you'll never see number one. Do yourself a favor and start pacing yourself a little bit. I think that's what Jaxom is doing and maybe you need to step back a little. We need you to be around for a long time, not just for the scoring but for the fun! You're an incredible player but you're also a friend and we all enjoy talking to you.

Maybe you should just take a break for a couple of days. I know that sounds crazy, because you'll drop back even further, but when you do submit a game it'll be worth more. I don't really know what else to suggest to you. Definitely do not get burned out, though!! This game and this community is too fun to let burn-out ruin it.

Play the game you want to play, when you want to play it. You're still awesome, whether you have that little medal or not.

Wow! Thanks!

I see everyone is doing a great job!

Welcome to the Senate, Terl! (I voted for you )

I have an extremely busy day today, but I'll see if I can't pop in from time to time.

Greldon, it sounds like you need to take a break. It's not easy banging out the games at the pace you've kept up. Believe me, I know from experience. You will get there soon enough. Theoden is giving you excellent advice.

The longer you wait, the better metaverse score you will get. The MV is meant for the casual player and the scoring system proves that.

Take it easy, have fun. Enjoy the journey, don't focus on the destination.

Talk to you all later.
-Senator Lothmorg.

Just remember the Yor worked very hard on developing the system just for you

Honestly, it sounds like it is wacky as Theoden said. I agree with him though, play like you want. If waiting a couple days adds more than multiple games why not do that? Don't let your enthiusiasm wane though otherwise the Yor will sneak in through some unguarded niche somewhere

"Please welcome our newest members of the Conclave, Guardian Knight Lothmorg the Black and Guardian Knight Terl!

Thank you very much Theoden. Also thanks to all who took time to vote. Congratulations also to Lothmorg (who was my pick )

I figured you guys voted for each other! Both of you are very deserving of the honor. Congratulations!

Actually...that's Guardian Knight Lothmorg!

Take it easy, have fun. Enjoy the journey, don't focus on the destination.

Anybody notice Lothmorg always comes up with really cool quotes?

It is worth to remind that games are in block. And games in the same block are summed then divide by the square root of the number of games in the block.
So if you have, in the same block:
1 60K games, you will score 60K
4 60K games, you will score 120K, average 20K per game from the previous step
9 60K games, you will score 180K, average 12K per game from the previous step
16 60K games, you will score 240K, average 9K per game from the previous step
25 60K games, you will score 300K, average 7K per game from the previous step
36 60K games, you will score 360K, average 5.5K per game from the previous step
49 60K games, you will score 420K, average 4.5K per game from the previous step
64 60K games, you will score 480K, average 4K per game from the previous step
81 60K games, you will score 540K, average 3.5K per game from the previous step
100 60K games, you will score 600K, average 3K per game from the previous step

so if you want that you score have a drastic increase, leave time to the time in order for games to move in other blocks

Congratulations to Guardian Knights Lothmorg and Terl Well deserved on both counts - good call Theoden

Don't give up Greldon - sooner or later Jaxom will hit the same problem, and some of your scores will drop into the next block - look what happened to Lothmorg the other day, he got a nice 100K+ score boost just by having a few games go beyond 31 days.

I think you should go with your thoughts last week, and just play 1 game a day for a week or two and see what happens.

You must endeavour to persevere

Morning everybody! And congratulations to our two newest Guardian Knights.

I am trying to finish a game, but everytime I do, it crashes at the point it should play the military victory Movie. It's another Large/Maso.

If anyone is familar with Penny-Arcade (online comic and game review site) here's a http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2004-03-15 Link to a joke about a Jedi. PA is where I first read about galciv, btw.

Thanks for the advice, everybody, but:

I worked my butt off to get here and I won’t have a problem when Lothmorg tramples over my carcass and leaves me choking on his dust, because he earned it. I can cut back and get more points per game, but it still won’t be enough to keep up or even hold a particular position. There’s something inherently wrong with a system that rewards dedication and success with a kick to the crotch. The players in the Metaverse are great and I’m honored and blessed to call many of them friends. I enjoy the forums and the game, but the scoring system sucks. For me, playing less only means going backwards. I’m sorry, but that’s the cold, hard reality of it.

Hey Terl, Magnum, and littlewotts!

LW: quick question...did you Terror Star Alpha Strike to end the game? If so, I'm having the same problem. I resolved it by doing some fancy footwork. First, save the game right after you have completed the final destruction. Go to the Diplomacy screen and...ask for a Peace Treaty from the last empire. I know that sounds weird, but it worked for me. They'll of course give you the treaty, since they are gone anyway. Save the game again under a new name, just to be on the safe side. It should finish. If it doesn't, I suggest emailing Cari the savegame. Actually, she might want to look at it anyway, since it's happening to other ppl too.

Then keep playing your heart out, your hard work its noticed and hopefully the Stardockians will improve the scoring system, I play also hard to get to the top 10 and I will keep playing until my fingers quit. So keep the good fight and don't give up. Never give up!!! Never surrender!!! Come and visit the GROSS bar and have a round on the house.

Ps: Be aware that we had some Boozebots loose on the joint. So if you feel the urge to remain in the GROSS territory don't resist.

----------------------------------------------------------------

WE ARE THE GROSS, RESISTANCE IS FUTILE

Keep playing, that is what matters the most.

Hey Terl, Magnum, and littlewotts!

Morning! I have been busy too...

I can hardly wait to get home. I got my AP email this morning and it is torture now to be at work. I wish my cats could get the download done before I got home. Of course, they are sleeping...
