Great job, LW! You saved #5200!

I think it would certainly need to be on a case by case basis

Absolutely, and I don't mean kick out those who just haven't submitted / contributed for a while as they may well come back to the game.

I guess what puts it into perspective is, and you will definitely know where I'm coming from Theoden... the first empire I looked at was the Fellowship (big Tolkein fan ), but they have more zeroes than any other empire and it was clear there were only a few regular contributors to the empire thread (and most of those were from some strange folks called Theoden, Greldon and Terl).

It was from there that I was led to a place called Raven's Claw, but I still checked out the Europeans (for obvious reasons, but same thoughts on activity) and the Diplomats (a good empire activity-wise, but a little restrictive on playing / submission rules for a learning player) before deciding on the Guardians.

I'm 100% sure I made the right choice. Sorry Diplos, but I don't think you'll do too well in the 'new player' recruitment stakes - otherwise it's a top empire

I'm assuming this is the Sgt. from the movie...

"Pri-vate Pyle!"

Ray the Wanderer was very much against kicking anyone out of the Fellowship. At that time, I was 100% in agreement with him. But maybe things have changed around here.

I'm 100% sure I made the right choice.

I am too!

Though the Diplomats are good friends, I'd have to agree. Imposing restrictions when there's lots of players is not a bad thing, but with the recent slowdown, it really limits recruiting.

Who ever wired this needs to be beaten with a stick.

Must have been my co-worker.

Nah, he's ok. He just has a serious Sirian complex.
You ask a simple yes/no question and get a 15 minute dissertation.

Galactic Guardians News Special Report

We interupt this regularly scheduled forum discussion to bring you a special awards ceremony from Raven's Claw.

--------------------------------------------------

"This has been a very special day in the history of the Galactic Guardians. Our empire has achieved something which only a few empires have ever been able to accomplish. The Guardians surpassed the 4 million point mark!"

~Raucous applause follows~

"In recognition of this outstanding achievement, I have established a very special award. This award is extremely special as it will only be awarded today, never again. Everyone in the Galactic Guardians has been awarded the 4 Million Award, recognizing those who helped the Guardians reach this point. I beleive special milestones should be awarded since it takes extraordinary effort to reach these milestones. Congratulations and well done to all current Galactic Guardians!"

For Honor and Justice!

I can sense the jest with the smiley, so I note that this was not said out of malice. Still, there was not a reason for a driveby, ok?

Thanks.

Okay, folks...the awards aren't done yet...

In recognition of outstanding achievements in the enslavement of Yor, activity on the forums, and gaming activity I hereby award the Yor Enslaver Medal to some very deserving members:

~ Greldon: Who no doubt has made Yor suffer endlessly
~ Lothmorg: His evil has enslaved trillions of Yor
~ Monte Carlo: An endless hatred of the Yor has given him astonishing efficiency in dispatching the metal beasts
~ Genghis Hank: The inspiration of this medal, Hank is learning new ways to exterminate the Yor vermin

Congratulations to these members who have proven through their activity in the forums, their statements against the Yor, and their gaming skill that they would rather be bitten by a rabid Arcean than see a Yor live.

For Honor and Justice!

Bam Bam...thanks for understanding the intent of the comment. But don't you think even Sirian would chuckle at his remark? He admits freely he likes to fully explain his answers.

Nice one Theoden

That's 3 new shinys in 2 days for me

Now for a BOOM!!!-shell. I thought about playing a 'Realms Beyond' type variant game, and decided to keep it not too far off what I do already and went for playing an entire game with the military slider at zero (and no rush-purchasing ships either).

So this meant I had 2 planets to start with (I hit ctrl-N to get a PQ20 for Earth, and found a PQ16 as my other one), and would have to trade for every ship. As it turned out, I only traded for freighters which doubled as scouts, had more spare cash than I knew what to do with at 100% spending throughout the game, built 80% of TGs / wonders, and was tech leader when I finished the game with an alliance victory in Feb 2190. 60K points, game time: approx 70 minutes. I'm beginning to see how the crankers can do it now
And to think, my first 60K game took about 12 hours

"First of all I'd like to thank the Academy for...."

Thanks, Sire! (blushing smiley)

Outstanding! Great idea for a variant!
