Different education system over here - you either leave at 16 or 18 depending on willingness and ability 
I think our aged 16 leavers would be your 11th grade, so if I had been in the US education system I'd have been a class of '83, but didn't actually leave school 'til '84 aged 18. 
You were lucky getting that game to load having moved up a version - they usually don't work too well.

I don't think it's possible for you to hate the Yor any more than you already did
OK, how about a little side competition here. Let's see how early in a game you can personally remove the Yor from the proceedings. I enter my first submission of June 2179. 
They are just so stupid - 3 systems, each with a single transport in orbit, and nothing else. I couldn't resist, bought all 3 transports and 3 starbases off them (1 to extend the range of the transports, the other 2 were on resources) at a cost of 320bc/month for 99 months or something silly, but I was only going to pay it for 1 month anyway, and wiped them out instantly 
Had to drop off the 100% spending for a while, but gave me 3 nice new systems to play with.
With stupidity like that, I'm sure someone can eliminate them earlier

How was the music on Saturday?
I see you mentioned Journey - the only top rock band I haven't managed to see live yet (that I want to), because they never come over the pond

Saturday was cool. The guys did a few cover songs and a few of thier own. I was impressed.
I would like to see Journey as well. I went to a Boston show last summer. That was by far the best concert I've ever been to. I keep missing the Styx/REO shows though.
