actually...so far we've all assumed he's read them all but i think his exact words were "trying to catch up", so DATarbell did you actually read the whole thing or have you just silently let us think that pal?

Sorry, had to go make dinner, get four boys to bed, and put some whupping on the Yor! Had a game going (in the demo version) where it looked early on like I was going to get pounded. But I stuck with it, and ended up wiping out the Yor and one of the minors just before my time ran out (demo time that is!).

I did, in fact, read the entire thread. Although now I'm terribly afraid to go to sleep--for fear that it will somehow divide and multiply overnight! (And I see that even as I respond to this one post, there are still two more pages to catch up on. Woe is me!)

Maybe we should have a medal for that

You're going to fit in just fine

Morning to all Guardians, and our talkative visitors.
Only 104K behind SF now. A few more tinks, plinks, dull thuds, and booms should do the trick. Thanks to the "blocks" I got 17K for a single 60K bomb last night (makes a change from the 4-5k they're normally worth).

Amulek's 30 minute strategy still eludes me, tried a few things last night and got my butt delivered back to me big time. Still, I like a challenge

#5903  by Citizen damoose - 3/30/2004 4:51:19 AM

Man... I can't keep up... What 6 or a pages of posts yesterday. I think 5 of them happend between when I left work and when I got home. Slow down... Reading the thread doesn't leave any time for playing the game.

Crap and I don't even belong to this empire.

Maybe you shouldn't spend so much time out 'looking for snacks' moose

#5905  by Citizen damoose - 3/30/2004 6:44:06 AM

Ya... I know... But I'm hoping that with spring approaching and the warm warm weather it'll be easier to... ummm... aquire snacks.

Please note that I in no way tried to 'aquire' your new recriut.

wiping out the Yor

Always such a good thing to do....

I think you will fit in quite well here, DATarbell. Quite well indeed.

Good morning damoose and Magnum and good morning to the Guardians!!

Trying to achieve a very high percentage on the galactic map?

Morning all!

I am still amazed that DATarbell managed to read this thing. Give the guy a medal!

#5913  by Citizen Magnumaniac - 3/30/2004 9:37:24 AM

Afternoon ABT

Some feat indeed - there are shorter novels out in the world

I read it all before joining the Guardians, but it wasn't even up to 3000 then, and I know how much nonsense has been posted since

#5914  by Citizen Magnumaniac - 3/30/2004 9:55:52 AM

OK Guardians, it looks like Cypher isn't going to let us hop to the top without some resistance - he submitted a game today already

His top 25 challenge could prove interesting though. We have 3 already. Naqmir is closing in, and I hopefully won't be too far behind him. That means we need 2 more to equal SF, or 3 to beat them

So, with Terl, Droid5150, Mortis494, Littlewotts, Monte Carlo already submitting masos, and Genghis Hank, undead bonzi, exalteddruid heading that way soon, we should have a good shot at it

Never one to pass up on a challenge let's do it!

Good morning all!

Let's see--"for honor and justice." Nope, can't justify a medal for reading this thread in that context!

I think my 'feat' shows a) how much I am enjoying this community, b) how desperate I am for every tidbit that will help me squeeze the most fun out of this game, and c) that, evidently, I have got to get a life! (And let's face it, so far I haven't played a single complete game--demo only--and I still can't figure out who all the Guardians are!)

Speaking of the demo, here's a question. I ended up wiping out the Yor during my demo game last night. Spent some time looking at the summary (2190) and noted that several of my AI opponents scored 3mpts (same as me), and one even scored 4--despite the fact that I outscored him/it in every single category. Can anyone explain that to me?

#5916  by Citizen damoose - 3/30/2004 10:11:24 AM

THat would be the virus the Yor left in the point counting part of the game... Kinda... If I can't have it you can't either type of mentality.

#5917  by Veteran the 3rd child - 3/30/2004 10:12:13 AM

not sure anyone can exactly since we really only know the basics of the scoring system, i think the big factors are difficulty, and victory type, while population plays a limited roll in scorying as it caps off quickly, and points based on percentage of the tech tree researched, i believe number of ships of yours that were destroyed (that includes SB's), so it's possible you lost more ships

#5918  by Veteran the 3rd child - 3/30/2004 10:13:28 AM

btw, good morning guardians, hows the yor killing pits this time of the day?

Since the demo is version 1.03, the metaverse calculation is from 1.03. And it has greatly changed

despite the fact that I outscored him/it in every single category

The 'categories' of scoring - military, economic, and so on - have no significant relationship to metaverse points, which are scored on a completely different basis. What AI metaverse points mean is beyond me.

Good morning, Guardians and guests!

Never one to pass up on a challenge let's do it!
It's on! It's just a matter of time. The way I see it, the question isn't if, it's when.

Cypherpax is saying that you are 2 millions behind SF, I think that he is suffering from maximus hysterius there is only 107809 points between you both.
