XGE, I'm familiar with the plethora of genre names, and readily discount them. The number one rule in the 22 immutable laws of marketing is to be first. Later on down the list, presuming that you weren't able to be first, is to redefine the category so that you're first. In my opinion, that is what many of these games are doing--defining a new genre so that they have a better chance of standing out in the crowd. (Which is often a necessary thing in gaming circles these days, I am well aware.) |

Not to get into a big argument but, That type of game has never been called an rts EVER, an rts is a real time strategy game, it's general genre is actually third-person shooter (splinter cell etc.), so your statement has no foundation. I was also not speaking about what it's advertised as, since many of those they advertise as are wrong anyway.

Ok, go ahead an register whenever you want DATarbell, and somebody with the power will give you access.

[popping in for one last time tonight] BOOM!!!
Right, that's it. I'm going now, for sure. Unless...

ABT, don't I need to wait until I have the game and have registered it (i.e., this weekend)? (It's a fact that I have two left feet. I'm just trying to figure out which one of them to lead with! )

XGE, I'll agree to disagree. (You're not likely to change my mind, as I've been studying this field for years, have consulted with a number of game development companies, and yet aspire to run my own. At the same time, I have no need or desire to change yours!)

DATarbell,
You don't need to be registered with the game to register in the senate halls. You do need to be registered with the game to join the Guardians. You should use the same name for both, so you would need to decide on one now. Being granted access to the Guardian Halls before being officially a Guardian is another question - one that is above my pay grade so to speak. It *can* be done by the powers that be. *Should* they is the issue. Perhaps one of the senators of the Guardians could answer in place of Theoden since RL has him a bit tied up at the moment?

GH, I'll wait. It's just a few days now. (If I can wait for the game that long, surely I can wait for the 'ceremonial' aspects, as well.)
Tried to talk my wife into letting me open just one birthday present early (half-joking, half-serious). She is well aware that I've been bitten by the GalCiv bug. Has seen the symptoms before. Knows that I'm about to "check out" for awhile. So even though she won't let me open it early, it's still pretty amazing that she's willing to give it to me at all!

All right. That actually is a pretty good question of should you, but you are in all respects but in reality a Guardian, so I wouldn't see a problem with it, but I am a Diplomat Senator, not a Guardian Senator.
| |
|
OK. I'm looking forward to having you on board with us. I've only been with the Guardians 2 weeks myself, and with the game a little over a month. The metaverse and the Guardians have helped make it keep my interest much to the detrament of my sleep. (But just one more game and I can move up another x spots...) And the forum is as addictive as the game

Thanks GH. Catch you later. (Signing off.)

I'm pretty sure they would be OK with it. Just don't want to presume too much.
| |
|
Yep. And this site will go down later. Server maintaince. Just warning.

Good! It will give me a chance to attend to RL for a little bit

I'll do the same, but for the record, I too have been studying this field for years, and have played litterally hundreds maybe thousands of games, and me and my friends also aspire to have our own developement
team, but for now i'll yield this argument, for the sake of the peace, i am a diplomat afterall.

I haven't played a game in a while. Maybe I should do that tonite. I could stay in the top 100 that way...

....ello, ello Guardians. Welcome DATarbell to the Guardians.
I've been busy the last few days. Hopefully I can submit a game tonight and add to the Yor kill count. It must be around the 1'999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999 by now. It seems there is a never-ending supply of these foul, robotic beeping dung shovellers. It might be wise to take out the manufacturing centres where they are being created, but in after thought I realized that will mean less Yor to take out my agression on, and a huge economic loss to the Guardians on our monoply of Yor parts.

Monte Carlo, thanks for the welcome. Littlewotts, out of curiosity, how long have you been playing GalCiv? And how long did it take you to break into the top 100? (And are you afraid to go to sleep at night for fear that you will wake up and find yourself suddenly in the top 250 or worse?)
