There's never a time that military or influence resources become irrelevant! These are by far the most important items in the game!
| |
It's a very old tactic, but still widely used by many, including yours truly.

I always go after influence bonuses, but generally I let the AI get military, unless I can get to them first. Lately, I have been trading tech or cash for their starbases that have a resource attached.
| |
I grab those early and hang on to them. They've been the reason for war, many, many times. It's amazing what a fully maxed resource base can do for you.
| |
they have had 2 starbases at one resource. |
It is not a bug, and they are not sharing the resource. When you build a SB on a resource, that graphic gets moved to the lower right. Having a SB to the right of the resource will look like both are "sharing" it.

I noticed in 1.19 that they have had 2 starbases at one resource. Is this a bug? |
I noticed this too, and I read through the 1.19 bug thread and it was mentioned there. CariElf said that it was probably a bug where the AI is trying to upgrade the base.
| |
Try not to let the AI get the military resources! Especially on a large map, where there are more of them. They may not know how to use some things in the game, but they are deadly with building maxed out military SBs and they just love destroying your Avatars with super Dreads.
I, too trade for resource starbases. Unless 1.19 has changed this, this is an exploit in my opinion. It's so easy to get their SBs from them...

Cari and I talked about this before. Long, long ago.
| |
I felt bad about it, then I thought about how embarrasing it must feel to them to be crushed by my military might. Military might that they sold to me. Mwahaha!!!
| |
Military might that they sold to me. |
Suckers!

I was thinking, wouldn't be nice if you could enslave a population from a star system you take over? I mean just for short time (I'd think they'd die out quick). Maybe some kind of social production bonus. And then the Yor would get you just military production, as you melt them into spaceship parts.
Well, it's just a thought...

You can also double click on the starbases in question to see what modules they have upgraded. Look for the Resources. You'll see they are not sharing. Unless, of course, they are upgrading social + military production (which is in the same catagory).

MOO3 leaves you with other races on the planet when you take over |
So does GalCiv. Just "flip" 'em.

Ohhh Terl now you did it, you mentioned the M...3 word, you have sealed your destiny, as a punishment you must play M...3 for 33 hours, 33 minutes and 33 seconds. It is worse than to break a mirror, you have 33 tears, 33 months, 33 days, 33 hours and 33 minutes with 33 seconds of bad luck.
