what do you think is the largest single Alpha strike you have pulled off |
Mine was all seven races and about 24 stars.

I think 3 or more we get the low tech Greldonizer out.

Is that another low-tech Greldonizer offense?

Do't worry, I was bashing my head on the desk trying to get the page to reload.

Wait till you get the Draginol event... can you say 140,000 bc per turn income |
MagMan, seriously?! Is that simply a random event, or is it triggered, or made more likely, by anything in particular? (Where do I sign up?!)
| |
It's random. You'll get a message about abandoning a colony. Don't. Wait for it to flip and then whoop them once. Get all there cash for a few months then detroy them. You man need to surround thier planet as other races will try to take them out.

Impressive, I thought people would keep track of that. It really is a thrill to pull it off perfectly. You showed a little more patients setting up that Alpha then have you have with that dam internet connection.
| |
All, based on the context, it sounds like the definition of "alpha strike" is "a single-turn event intended to completely wipe out one or more races." Is that accurate? And are there other strike 'types'?

I've Greldonized over twenty systems in a single turn. |

Glactic News Alert - this is GNN. The economy is reeling over the devistating shortages of ashtrays, bar-b-que grills and other assorted items. Major retailer G-Mart is in financial ruin, and their share price is fallen below .0002bc on the Glactic Stock Exchange. A new process called Greldonization has created a severe shortage of the raw materials needed for the production of basic household goods. More details as they come in. This is GNN.

I did 3 races and about 8 systems last night in my strike and went to sleep with a big smile on my face. There is nothing like a little ethnic cleasing before bed, to give you pleasent dreams.

It's the knowing what will happen that sustains me.

Completely random. As LW says, you get a warning about something incredibly evil growing in one of your colonies. You've then got a year (rush-build as many Combat transports as you can to take all your pop off bar a few) before they appear.
As soon as they appear, make peace then trade them any tech or trade good for 140K+ per turn. I don't even bother to destroy them. Just wait a few turns then buy every ship in the galaxy (except colonisers and minor's ships), declare war on all the majors, beat them up for a couple of turns (killing any new ships they produce), then go to each one with your huge military rating compared to their zero and offer them peace for a system or two. Rinse & repeat until only one system left, then invade

Oh! I thought GNN stood for Greldonization News Network.

It's actually a term that predates this game that basically means "your maximum one turn damage - usually at point blank range". In this game, I've seen it mean "completely elimate one race" or "completely elimate all races" in one turn.

Mag, I never though of that. ~Steeples fingers~ Excellent. :sinister:

Rule No 1.... everything has a price
Rule No 2.... if you can't afford it, Greldonize it
| |
I generally hit all the races at once since they are almost always allied.

If there are any Star Fleet Battle players here, the context I learned it in was as follows:
The Klingon D7 had a weaker Alpha Strike than the Fed CA, so the Klingon would try to "Saber Dance" and snipe at the Fed, while the Fed would try to execute an overrun.
