Yeah. I'm not sure if it makes it easier or not.

Oh man, I have not played Star Fleet Battles in ... 20 years!

#6853  by Citizen Lothmorg the Black - 4/6/2004 6:05:53 PM

That was about the same time I played Traveller, Car Wars, and Melee.

Those were the days....

OK, we've been playing for 6 hours... time for turn 2

Wow! Traveller. I'd forgotten all about that

Probably closer to 23/24 years since I played it

I set 2 at pure evil, 2 at pure good, 1 at chaotic evil, 1 at chaotic good and one at neutral. In my games an alliance is rare.

That's OK. You're making up for it now.

I jump right past the alignment page, but I'll look tonite.

I've put countless hours in playing Final Fantasy games, and other RPGs. Not to mention sports, racing, strategy, simulation, etc. When I first got galciv I was afraid I'd get hooked. Then I found this wonderful support group...or group of enablers...

Yes...It's rather unsettling to profess your addiction and hear everyone chuckle.

Hi, my name is Greldon and I'm a GalCiv addict.

Last night it is 10:30.I'm sitting on the coach with the wife pretending to watch TV. Praying she'll go to bed so I can sneak downstairs and finish my Galciv game. She starts watching one of those home improvement shows and I know I am dead in the water. I get up go for a glass of water. Then I go. "Oh I forgot I have to check something on the computer", and b line it down stairs. Few seconds later pillow comes flying downstairs. Assume by that she is okay with meplaying an all nighter. Is your addiction effecting your family Life? Call Galciv annynomous now before it is to late.

Oh yeah. "Honey, I need to check something real quick on my computer." Four hours later...
"Yeah, that was real quick."

Hey Greldon, you sure are doing a fine job of keeping the 200K barrier between us.

For the time being....You start a new block in a few days, don't you?

As we already established, our thread has by far the most activity.

Our motto should be "Miss a day, miss alot". You have to visit a couple times a day just to keep your reading to managable amount.

*Pant pant* You got that right. The Guardian communications grid has a simple but effective encryption algorithm: jamming the airwaves with traffic! Like the NSA computers in the United States, the spies (or even Spymaster in this case) can't screen all the calls. But I like you guys. You got spunk, even if you like your posts by the dozen.

While I was not keeping up here, my thoughts on page stealers (which I am also from time to time) from my own empire's thread coincided a bit with the discussion earlier:

"Besides, while on the topic of page starters, wasn't I one of the first page grabbers before all these new kids on the block came along? But back in my day, you only took one shot for the kill. There was no running up the page break. And if you did deliberately grab a page, it had to look somewhat classy. Write a little story around it or something. How the times are a changin'."

"Sorry dear, it takes a long time for the computer to shut down properly"

Hello SpyMaster!
How the times are a changin'.
Absolutely!

And when it comes to class, your's has never been in question.

I've stolen a few pages myself. I don't claim to be innocent, but as you say, there should be at least some class involved. A good thief isn't noticed until the deed is done.

Over two hours with no posts...am I in the wrong thread?

Oh well....BOOM!!!

Hi Guardians.

I would like to congratulate Loth for his silver shinny and Terl for his excellent 2nd part of his story, and anyone I have missed out on; congrats as well.

I would also like to welcome all the new Guardians that have recently joined us since I was last in the Raven's Claw.

I know I havn't been around here alot for the last week or 2, but I have been busy trying to find some balance and order with my time. I've started doing my writing course I mentioned earlier and Im slowly organizing and prioritising my life and goals towards it.

Alas for the time being I dont have much time for playing GalCiv or participating in the forums as much as I would wish to; but in a week or two, or maybe three when the dust settles, and I can get some sort of routine and consistency established in my life, I should have some extra time each night to spare for Galciv, and hopefully a little more forum participation.

I do miss sharing in the fun of this empire. Time(hrs) and Time(location)constraints makes it harder on me to be around when you guys or gals are on in the Nothern Hemisphere.

Ohhhh, and I got to ask if Loth and Greldon are doing well. On the news last night here in OZ there was a report that Texas at some location I cant remember had some really bad hail and major flooding. Also roofs where torn off houses etc... I hope all is ok for you both, and your families.

Well, it's time to go for now be back later.
