It's a good thing we have the Senate Halls, because some people won't rest until empires are completely silenced from the entire GalCiv.com website.

Why are you so sure that it is from the entire GalCiv.com website? I haven't unserstood that.

They are getting quite anal over there. I guess he should rename himself to Star Police

That is true, mainly down to the fact that the most vocal in this debate are on the two extremes of opinion. Star pilot's post that sparked this off was very extreme and tried to portray all empire members as relentless spammers. Unfortunately there are those within the empires that seem to have the attitude "screw what everyone else wants, we want to do what we want", and of course, there are one or two relentless spammers within the empires.

With those two extremes around, there is very little chance of finding an acceptable compromise I'm afraid.

As you have probably gathered, I personally like the way it is now, and it certainly didn't hinder me in finding the active part of the GalCiv community, or in finding answers to questions in the main forum.

I'm frustrated. I replied to your post in the Galatic Forum but I'm probably just too aggravated to be posting right now. Sorry if I have offended you. I really need to go do something else for a while.

I like having the Empires Forum too...I just don't like being told where I can and can't post. I guess I'm just that kind of person.

As I said boss, the problem is down to the extremists. I think it's safe to say that no-one around here could be counted among them, thank goodness.

I really need to go do something else for a while.

I know of a really good way to vent frustration, and I think Yor ready to try it...

Its going ok so far. I have alot to learn in the grammar and english usage department. Most editors and publishers wont even read your first chapter these days if your grammar is incorrect. So most of my time will be learning style and grammar till it becomes second nature, and I dont have to think about all the rules involved when I write.

I named Star Pilot as he was the one I noticed today. I do not have the other names. I pulled the 'they' more from Theoden's train of thought and my sentence does look strange in this context.

Unfortunately there are empire spammers. If you look at the rejuvenated GROSS thread there was no point in it being bumped in the main forums. I could understand the Jedi one as they wanted to retain continuity. Could it have been done better? Absolutely. There is no reason for Star Pilot's response and the harshness of the tone. He does not have to read the thread.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer being here and in our own forums. I understand the separation of the forums as it is logical given the subject matter differences, but I do not understand the pouting and over reaction if someone from an empire makes a mistake.

When I started playing, the community also drew me to the game. If I were to join now, I would see hostility splashed about and be less likely to look around more. The main forum is heading toward what a lot of usenet groups are like now. One post by a novice and 30 to 40 following explaining all the "conventions" he violated.

Perhaps a hyperbole here

used for effect of course. The makings are there with posters like star pilot and now Renegade is further stirring the pot by spamming the old GROSS thread over there.

I think I'll just stay here and skip the main forum.

You posted it in the main forums. We are not supposed to be using those threads, remember? I would not have said anything if it were in the GROSS thread here but you posted out in the main forum and you know (I've read your complaints) that it is frowned upon and only stirs animosity.

Major Dallas... Genghis Hank was having similar problems with the never-ending tribute payments. How many months did you pay over? I always go for 99, as anything more than that makes no difference to the price, and I have never seen this problem. I wonder if it is because you are going more than 99 months? Have you got a save to try again with a different setting?

There were two possible things that fixed it, try either or both:

1) I went down to the 99 turn offer
2) I was saving the game and reloading in between making the deal and attacking. This was because the planet was "out of range" for my attack, and I needed to get the game to recalc after purchasing the starbase. To get it to work right, I backed off to an earlier saved game, then ran a constructor up and built my own starbase to increase range before making the deal to get the attack force,
