But my confidence at my ability to write is a little in the dumps for now

Writing on the forums was a big boost to my confidence. You should give it a go. No-one ever says anything bad to you.

He is right though, these forums are a great place to try things out. If you are not comfortable posting here, use the private forums.

Good morning, Matthew!

MC: Matthew is right! Practice on us. We like stories and most of us don't know a comma from a semicolon, not to mention sentence structure or grammar. We always like new material, so lay it on us.

All good advice. Give me a month and I should get something started.

Yes, Matthew's stories are very good, but I'm sure that is partly down to gained confidence, and support from his readership.

Give it a go MC, no one's going to flame you for it and a bit of constructive criticism if appropriate will only help in the long run

We can't all be as naturally gifted as Terl, but hell, even I've had a go and just about got away with it - and I think I've said before that I'm usually at my most creative when holding a hammer.

I might do a Galactic Guardian related short story. But try to do something fresh and take a different approach to Terl's and littlewotts great stories. Maybe something to do with more espionage in it, something a little more dark and mysterious. Something where the battles can go either way, something where the Guardians way of life is but a small candle flame trying to stay alight against the onslaught of a hurricane.

Well, obviously, but I've never seen anyone say anything bad about any forum story. The problem with that is that you then start inferring criticism from other things. For example, some of my stories got no praise at all, and I couldn't help worrying that that might mean everyone hated them. On the other hand, I often don't praise things just because I can't be bothered, so it's best not to get too paranoid.
Another risk is getting overconfident from the easy praise you can get from the Greldons of the world. Never make mistake the people you meet on the internet for people whose opinions really matter.

Anyone want to read my writing tips?

Quite interesting statement here, one with meanings on many levels....

Ouch!

See Greldon, I told you to stop pointing out that Gandalf is a Guardian over in the Pony. Matthew's getting all upset about it and resorting to the cheap shots.

In this context it probably means people who:
like stories and most of us don't know a comma from a semicolon, not to mention sentence structure or grammar. We always like new material, so lay it on us.

But feel free to interpret it some other way if it entertains you.

I will assume it was meant in a good way. Greldons praise might come easily, but its no less important IMO.

I am sure he meant it the way he said. I was just teasing him.

Terl, stop teasing him, I need to see his writing tips. After we see his tips and digest the information, then by all means feel free to tease away
