Alas, poor MoO3, doomed to be the butt of gamer's jokes and derision for the next decade. I look at it every once in a while, but haven't had it installed since the end of summer.
Just finished DLing AP, checked it out, appears all is good. Scenario and map editors look very intuitive, thumbs up. Now to go finish the tiny map game I started last night, hopefully I can manage to get it finished today, so I can start up an AP game.
Terl: I think that's cruel and unusual punishment...even for the Renegade. Let's just get my 2x4 back and use it on him. Besides I borrowed it and promised to return it.

Greldon, feel free to keep it. Seems like there's plenty of use for it these days. (Besides, at some point you may decide I need a good whack up side the head, and I would much rather you had a 2x4 handy, than not having it and having to use, I don't know, something larger and more final!)

I also follow Magnum's advise and went for Galactic wonders 1st before trade goods. The man's a "Guinness".
Thankyou ED, but I can't lay claim to the idea. Just happened to be the first one that you read
The GSE really does kick your economy into overdrive.
Well my current game has completely blown my normal strategy out of the water. Huge / rare, and the 8 sectors surrounding SOL contain no less than 9 yellow systems. No way could I leave them for the AIs (my usual gameplan requires colonising 3 systems max) as I'd be swamped by influence in no time. So I now find myself way behind due to having to build all those colony ships, abd the Yor have already picked up diplos and aphrodisiac. I forsee a very large dose of Greldonization heading their way before too long
Thankyou ED, but I can't lay claim to the idea. Just happened to be the first one that you read
It is often the little things people say that turn out to be best advise. Like setting way points from the side screen planet area advise someone dropped the other day. Talk about a time saver.

I just submitted to the Library a new mod called "The Greldonizer". This is the description
The Greldonizer is a weapon invented by TheGuardian Empire. The GROSS Empire has developed a new version ten times more efective.
Increases Morale, Planet Defenses, 10% PQ and I hope you enjoy it when it gets posted.
Terl: I just got a chance to read chapter 2 of Destiny's Avenger. It's very good. Keep up the good work!

Well seems like the Guardians are on the ANZAC thread, so I am coming here.

Gonna try and 'draw' a picture here, we'll see how it turns out:
SB
SB
RES
I've seen this configuration several times now, where an AI civ has seemingly built two SBs to mine off a single resource. Is that what is, in fact, happening? If so, can we do that as well, and what are the limits?

It only looks like they are doing that. It is a bug that seems to be fixed in the 1.49M beta of AP.
My understanding is 1 star base per resource. I'm sure I would have read otherwise by now. I have seen it to. Appears like no other reason to be there. Maybe just follows original orders and plops down as close as it can get.

LW, is this 'cheese' then? In other words, is the AI using this to multiply their resource mining and should I be able to do the same (until I move up to AP 1.49M)?

ED, didn't see your post until after I had submitted mine (two posts passing in the ether!). Yeah, I've seen that behavior elsewhere. Right now I've got three Kwilasian colony ships parked off three of my early-colonization systems. Seems that I got there before them, but they don't know what to do now. I can see the same thing happening with a resource, even if it is two constructors from the same AI civ 'fighting' over a single resource.

Only one is mining the resource. You can build a starbase next to the resource first and then build one to mine the resource, or the other way around. You can build a second starbase next to a starbase mining resource, but only one.

One thing that I noticed in the last few games I played, I had like 5 resources around me and didn't have enough money to build the starbases so I build five constructors and I planted them on top of the resources until I had enough money to build the starbases, cheesy aint it????

ED, can't check on the double-click at this moment--but I will be able to shortly. I'll let you on.
Greldon, what would be the advantage of having two SBs there?

There's some more for the pot. And about 155,347 Yor felt the Greldonization process this time.

ED, yup--you can double-click on an AI's resource-based SB and see what improvements (if any) they've placed there. At least that's true in v1.2.

McLittlewotts's. Billions and billions greldonized. "Would you like fries with that?"
(Gotta avoid that Burger King chain though. Something suspicious about them constantly singing, "Have it Yor way!" )
