Hey XGE!Statbot is showing your average dificulty at 9.17 right now. Shouldn't be too many more for you. It should change somewhere between 9.25 and 9.5. The simple game is probably the thing that is slowing you down.It took me 14 games at crippling to get my shield up to painful, and will probably take another 25 or so to get it to crippling, if I don't move into maso.

Thanks GH btw i just learned in the alternate metaverse professional league i'm in 10th place this month... on the edge of the active players...but still

How do I go about this? I haven't used mods before, and I don't want to mess up anything.

LW,

The following mod types in GalCiv/AP use numeric IDs as identifiers... improvements, wonders, tade goods, parties, SB modules, techs.

These IDs must be unique for mod type. And for SB modules they must also be sequential. For parties, they do not need to be sequential to work, but if they are not then you get 'gaps' (empty lines) in game in the senate vote dialog.

If these conditions are not met nothing really bad happens. However strange things do happen... techs that suddenly appear in the tree, sb modules that do not or at least don't seem to do anything... That kind of stuff.

If you have put your mods into the mods directory means that they are easy to remove from the game environment and nothing is modified in the default GC/AP installs. SO no need to worry.

You can open the mods with a text editor and change the IDs then save the files. This does not affect how the mod works wrt tech pre-reqs and such as this is dictated by the 'names' and not the IDs.

Hope this is clear.

Glad it helped! Great pic. How did you come up with the name and picture?

Fellow Guardians!

I have seen some interest from some of you in The Political Machine release. Do any of you have plans to form a political party in that Metaverse? Is there any interest for a "Galactic Guardians" political party?

Thanks, GH!

A good friend, who also did my web graphics(www.duelingground.com) and signage, put this together for me. It represents my passion for Fantasy, and the Greatest Franchise in the History of Professional Sports, The Washington Redskins, with a pretty good likeness of me, excepting there may be a bit more grey to that beard, than the pic would suggest. I picked up the nickname Gandalf from several of my customers, and back in, I believe, '99, started using it as my internet alias, after combining it with theRedskin.

Amazingly enough, I've never found it to be already taken!

Very cool! I have to take execption to the "Greatest" label, being from a town just outside of Pittsburgh, but very cool none the less!

Coincidentally, it works out pretty well considering gandalf is titled gandalf the grey...now just try adding redskin to Mithrandir...

That is an idea, but there are some critical details that cannot be programmed into the mod as far as I know: Yor must be in the game and must be at war with the player at all times from the minute of contact. Then there would be a couple of other little details that would need to be smoothed over. Like Yor planets could not be flipped by the player, and Yor could not surrender to the player, as both would mean leaving some Yor alive. Also players could not trade with a Yor or enter in any diplomatic negotiations involving paying/giving/bartering anything with a Yor. Of course, players could still demand the Yor pay them tribute. So it looks like being true to the Guardian's anti-Yor ways is more than a mod, it is a lifestyle. It is a long, narrow path littered with broken machines and strewn with parts. I don't envy you guys, though. Afterall, it ain't easy to be the official wreckers of the Meta.

Hmmm, some points on the fine art of Yor elimination:

It is acceptable to do some of the seemingly prohibited actions if it ultimatly leads to greater distruction of Yor. For instance:

Trading certain techs to the Yor are acceptable under certain situations. Trading Impulse Drives for instance, allows the Yor to bulid transports, which you can then purchase from the Yor with a 99 turn IOU and use Yor troops against the Yor to eliminate them. Of course, you must make sure the final wave of troops come from your own forces to populate the planet

Likewise, I view cultural war agains the Yor as "reprogramming" the Yor to accept Human commands. After the planet is fliped, the Yor can be used as part of the Teraforming process, which plants Human life on the planets, at which time the Yor can be switched off and reused for common household appliances.

Finally, there is the whole "Artifical Slave" thing. The possibilities are endless...

Yes, and it is pretty cool. But I was basically asking if any GalCiv Guardians wanted to band together in playing The Political Machine when it finally was released. They are going to have a Metaverse there and it will have "political parties" instead of "empires".

With the draw from all of GalCiv, we could certainly start off with a bang!

Well, you all seem to have been getting on OK without me this weekend.

Well done to all the Guardians for their achievments, and welcome to our 2 new members (who don't appear to have popped in to say hello yet).

Just back from a weekend visiting wife's family. I have a serious need for Greldonizing something right now, and those robotic imbeciles look like just the things, so please excuse my absence for a couple more hours.
